Two good kids. One a Citadel cadet and National Guard soldier. Both gunned down in a vacant lot in DeLand, Florida while spreading the ashes of a beloved dog.

Dustin “DJ” Rose, 19, and his childhood friend Samson Campbell, 18, came home to honor Hinata. Surveillance caught them walking together Tuesday evening. Hours later a mother found their bodies. Multiple gunshot wounds. Pronounced dead on the scene. No suspects. No motive released. Just two young men erased for doing something decent.

Rose was building a life of service. Campbell was a good kid trying to move forward. Their families are planning funerals instead of watching them grow up.

This is pure evil. Somebody decided these boys’ lives meant nothing. Whoever did it needs to be hunted down and locked away for good. No excuses. No soft justice.
