I will NOT be drawn into the fight about "that" Olympics tableau, but can I ask why no one is discussing the fact that the person portraying the #blueman is clearly #tobiasfunke? #arresteddevelopment@davidcrosss
There is no better person than the huge-hearted @MarcHochstein to put into words how all of us at @CoinDesk feel this week after saying goodbye to so many of our colleagues.
Please read this tremendous tribute to the fine reporters and editors who were let go on Monday.
1/ On Fridays I usually send an email to @CoinDesk staff highlighting the week’s best stories.
Following this week’s layoffs, yesterday I sent instead a tribute to the stellar reporters and editors we lost. Adapting here.
This is gonna be a long 🧵

Lessons in perspective. Overheard just now on a NYC street. Kids coming home from summer day camp, telling their mother all about it.
Kid 1 (maybe 3 yrs old): I made a superhero cape!
Kid 2 (maybe 5): You made a tie dye apron.
Kid 1: Super. Hero. Cape.

@mikejcasey@TheSpiceDAO And here there's a double layer of IP issues -- the "bible" itself is a derivative work of Frank Herbert's Dune. I don't know what kind of animated series they want to make, but it almost certainly would need rights from whomever controls Dune.
@mikejcasey@TheSpiceDAO Problem is that all they own is a single copy of the Bible. Gives them the right to sell that copy, and that's it. You don't get any useful copyright interest when you buy a book at a used bookstore. A rare volume may be valuable, but no rights pass in the intangible work.
