Tomorrow in Oakwood Park, you can attend the tribute to the life and legacy of Lorain's Retired Chief of Police Celestino Rivera. This ceremony, organized by Councilman Rey Carrion, will start at 6:30pm after the Big Voice Competition and before Latin City Soul plays at 7:00pm.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of a local hero, Cel Rivera. A Vietnam War Veteran, leader for the Ohio Hispanic Veterans Memorial Project, Police Chief of 25 years and 49 years total for the Lorain Police Department, Cel Rivera was a devoted community member.

Today, as we honor the men and women who have fought for our country, you can visit one of the memorials and monuments scattered throughout Lorain that stand to remind us of their sacrifices.
