Today, we filed a challenge to SEPTA's 30% fare hike. SEPTA received the money it needed to keep operating, and has the money to buy new trains ( but will not because SEPTA wants to cut service by 45% and wouldn't need the new trains).

Governor Shapiro waited until after the SEPTA workers accepted a subpar contract, after the SEPTA board voted for a 25% increase in the key card rides, to announce he was "flexing" $153 million. Now SEPTA has extra money. Will they use it to hire the needed bus drivers?

There is no need for fare hikes or service cuts. At the last public hearing, SEPTA revealed it has $535 million in a fare stabilization fund. If SEPTA used 20% of its surplus, no fare increase would be needed, nor would any service cuts.

You don't have to look at Trump to see government officials shutting down democracy. The Publicly owned PGW is doing it here in Philadelphia, with the Mayor's support. This is why people don't trust government.

And then PGC would reconsider its own vote, without an independent report. At stake? the Right of The Public to Become a party to proceeding. PGC claiming the advocate it pays is all the Public is entitled to.
