Today, we filed a challenge to SEPTA's 30% fare hike. SEPTA received the money it needed to keep operating, and has the money to buy new trains ( but will not because SEPTA wants to cut service by 45% and wouldn't need the new trains).

If the City offered Macy's what it gave to the owners of the Sixers: no R.E or U&O taxes for 30 years, free land, and help getting more would Macy's be closing, putting people out of work, and leaving consumers without a department store?

Governor Shapiro waited until after the SEPTA workers accepted a subpar contract, after the SEPTA board voted for a 25% increase in the key card rides, to announce he was "flexing" $153 million. Now SEPTA has extra money. Will they use it to hire the needed bus drivers?
There is no need for fare hikes or service cuts. At the last public hearing, SEPTA revealed it has $535 million in a fare stabilization fund. If SEPTA used 20% of its surplus, no fare increase would be needed, nor would any service cuts.
