Day 1

And we’re off! The 2025 dairy trip has begun with 54 students! We left at 6AM this morning. This afternoon we toured two dairies, Zwemmers and Highland Dairy. Zwemmers are currently milking 12,000 cows in three locations and Highland dairy was milking 3300! #aggiesgousa

Day 3

Today we visited MVP Dairy, the partnership between the McCarty family and the VanTilburg family. They are milking just under 4000 Holsteins.
We would also like to give a big thank you to Maple View for the sweaters they so kindly gave our group.

Congratulations to BASF students Karen, Lauren, Sophie, Olivia & Colby, who participated in the @NE_WeedSci Weed Contest in July with the @uofg Weeds Team & received awards including highest herbicide ID score, first place team, second place team & third overall team!

An awesome trip with an amazing team! Took a trip down to North Carolina for the North Eastern Weed Science contest. Learned a ton, and was awarded first place team in the undergraduate category! Huge thanks to @FJTardif for the coaching!

Day 2: St Genetics organized our day today which consisted of farm stops at PJV Farms, Cedarwal Farms, Wisselview Farms and Donia Farms. Big thank you to ST for sponsoring and helping to organize the day @STgenetics #aggiesgowest

Day 3: Our day filled with chilly tours started at VanBierts Farm before stopping at Westgen for lunch followed by a scenic route to Cultus Lake. This afternoon consisted of Gracemar Farm - a robotic rotary parlour as well as WestCoast Holsteins show barn! @_Westgen #aggiesgowest

Day 4: We bundled up for 4 farm tours today. This morning we were at Princar Farms and Hardenburg Farms. This afternoon we toured Westar Farms and Corners Pride (biggest robot herd in Canada). We want to thank Lely & DeLaval reps for being on our tours #aggiesgowest

Getting lots of questions on fungicide timing with variable silking. Target green to brown silks and as many emerged as possible. Better to be on the later end of the window in these fields. Still have time in some regions #ontag

Lots of silks and tassels peeking out of corn fields in Huron/Perth. It’s go time for #VeltymaDLX fungicide to protect against both ear rots and leaf diseases!

Starting to find trace amounts of Tar Spot in production fields around Kent County. Time to start scouting #Ontag. Conditions are quite conducive for the spread of this disease.
