#TrainAccident#IsraelPalestineWar#viratkholi#INDvAFG "No Wreaths Left": Death Count Spirals As Israel Vows To Crush Hamas
India has launched Operation Ajay to facilitate the return of its citizens from Israel. There are 18,000 Indians in the country. Israel vowed to wipe Hamas "off the face of the Earth" as an emergency government hinted at a ground offensive in response to the weekend attack that killed 1,200. India has launched an operation to bring home 18,000 citizens in the war-torn nation.
Here are 10 facts about the Israel-Hamas war:
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has forged an emergency government to direct its war against Hamas. The government has hinted that a ground offensive would start soon in Gaza and declared that the group would be "wiped off the face of the Earth".
"Every Hamas member is a dead man," said Netanyahu, again likening the group to the Islamic State and promising: "We will crush them and destroy them as the world has destroyed Daesh."Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said, "I say here, to everyone - we will wipe out this thing called Hamas. We will wipe them off the face of the Earth."
Israel defence spokesperson Jonathan Conricus said that they had evidence and accounts to believe that Hamas is beheading children.
Most of the 2.3 million people in the Gaza Strip have no electricity and no water and 340,000 are now homeless. With hundreds of Israeli strikes raining down on their tiny enclave, they have nowhere to run. With the strip's only other border blocked by Egyptian authorities, the people said they were trapped. Egypt has refused to provide shelter to refugees who have escaped from Israel. The country has been pounding targets in the Gaza Strip for five days since Hamas fired 5,000 rockets at Israel on Saturday. The surprise attack -- the worst in Israel's 75-year history -- has seen a total of 1,200 people killed, while Gaza has reported over 1,000 deaths. Israel also claims to have killed 1,500 Hamas fighters who infiltrated their towns.
"There are no wreaths left in Israel anymore," said one of the many volunteers working to prepare funeral flowers for more than 1,200 Israelis killed.
India has launched Operation Ajay to facilitate the return of its citizens from Israel. There are 18,000 Indians in the country.
"Special charter flights and other arrangements are being put in place. Fully committed to the safety and well-being of our nationals abroad," Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
The first lot of Indians who had registered to return has been notified and they will be put on the first special flight today to India, the country's embassy in Israel said in another post.

TAP TO UNMUTE
The United Nations warned of "devastating consequences" after Israeli military asked over a million Gazans and UN officials to relocate south within 24 hours, indicating that Israel may soon begin a deadly ground assault.
Here are 10 updates on the Israel-Hamas war:
Israeli military has started massing up its tanks near the border and ordered the evacuation of civilians from the Gaza city. "Residents of Gaza, move south for your personal safety and your families. Distance yourself from the Hamas terrorists who use you as human shield. IDF will continue to operate significantly in Gaza City in the coming days, and wishes to avoid harming civilians," the Israeli Defence Force said. Gaza shares its boundary with Egypt in the south and with Israel in the north and east.
The UN has called on the Israel military to take back the mass relocation order for Gazans to avoid the tragedy turn into a "calamitous situation". "The UN considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences," it said. The UN has moved its operations to southern Gaza after it said the order would be applicable even to UN staff and those sheltered in UN facilities like schools and https://t.co/js93JuUs67 US diplomat Antony Blinken visited Tel Aviv yesterday and assured his country's support to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He said he was shown horrifying photos of "baby riddled with bullets" and "soldiers beheaded". The US has confirmed the death of at least 22 Americans in Israel.
The deadly Israel-Hamas war completes a week today with peace not visible anywhere near the Middle East. At least 1,200 have died in Israel and another 1,400 in Gaza strip since the war began Saturday. Besides, the bodies of 1,500 Hamas operatives were found in the Israeli territory, the government has claimed. Nearly 150 others who were dragged across from the Israeli side are still being held hostage by Hamas.
Israel has imposed a "complete" siege on Gaza, cutting off water, fuel and electricity supplies. The Palestinian territory's sole power plant shut down on Wednesday after running out of fuel. Israel has vowed that it won't allow humanitarian aid into Gaza until Hamas releases the hostages.
#FreeGaza Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority that is a rival of Hamas, told US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Jordan that the forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza would constitute a repeat of 1948, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled or were driven from what is now Israel. Most Gazans are the descendants of such refugees.
Abbas called for aid to be allowed into Gaza immediately. Israel has said it will not lift its blockade until scores of hostages captured by Hamas are set free.
Blinken and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed providing safe zones in Gaza "where civilians could relocate to be safe from Israel's legitimate security operations," a U.S. state department official told reporters.
'I PROMISE YOU WE WILL WIN'
Israel has already responded with the most intensive air strikes of its 75-year conflict with the Palestinians. Gaza authorities say 1,799 people have been killed.
The Israeli military has not spelled out what sort of operation it is planning next but has pledged to operate "significantly" in coming days.
"We are fighting for our home. We are fighting for our future," Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said. "The path will be long, but ultimately I promise you we will win."
Israel says the horrific attack on its civilians means it must annihilate the group and others must get out of the way. Hamas tunnels, military compounds, senior operatives' residences and weapons storage warehouses were among 750 military targets struck overnight, it said.
The military wing of Hamas said the latest air strikes had killed 13 of the captives it brought back from Israel and that it had fired 150 rockets at Israel in response.
The United Nations said Israel's call for Gaza civilians to leave could not happen "without devastating humanitarian consequences", prompting a rebuke from Israel which said it should condemn Hamas and support Israel's right to self-defence.
A ground invasion of the narrow and densely populated Gaza Strip, home to 2.3 million people, poses a serious risk, with Hamas threatening to kill its hostages.
Hours after the Israeli evacuation call, there were few signs people were leaving Gaza City, where dozens gathered at the al-Shifa Hospital, vowing to stay put.
Palestinians in southern and central areas of the enclave, where people were expected to flee to, said air strikes had hit there overnight, with central parts also hit on Friday morning. "No place is safe in the entire Gaza Strip," the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said.
The U.N. humanitarian office (OCHA) said more than 400,000 people had already been made homeless in Gaza and 23 aid workers had been killed. "Mass displacement continues," it said.
The U.N. Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) said it had moved its central operations centre and international staff to Gaza's south and urged Israel to spare its shelters.
'THEY'RE VICTIMS TOO'
White House national security spokesman Kirby said U.S. officials were working with Israel and Egypt, which also has a border with Gaza, on safe passage for civilians there.
"Obviously, we don't want to see any civilians hurt," he said on CNN. "These Palestinian people, they're victims, too. They didn't ask for this. They didn't invite Hamas in and say, you know, 'Go hit Israel.'"
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said during a trip to Tel Aviv that military aid was flowing into Israel but that this was the time for resolve and not revenge.
On Friday Blinken met Jordan's King Abdullah as well as Abbas, whose Palestinian Authority exercises limited self-rule in the Israeli-occupied West Bank but lost control of Gaza to Hamas in 2007. Blinken is also set to visit Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates - some with influence on Hamas.
Iran warned of a response from its allies, which include Hamas and the powerful Hezbollah movement in Lebanon. The Israeli military said gunmen were infiltrating across the Lebanese border.

Hamas, which controls the densely populated Palestinian territory, vowed to fight until the last drop of blood and told residents to stay put after Israel said they should move to the south within 24 hours. JERUSALEM/NEW YORK/TEL AVIV : Countries urged Israel on Friday to hold off on plans for an all-out assault on northern Gaza, where more than a million civilians largely defied its order to evacuate before it goes after Hamas operatives who slaughtered Israelis a week ago.
Hamas, which controls the densely populated Palestinian territory, vowed to fight until the last drop of blood and told residents to stay put after Israel said they should move to the south within 24 hours.
While some heeded the call to leave, by Friday afternoon there was little sign of a mass exodus. More
"Death is better than leaving," said Mohammad, 20, standing in the street outside a building reduced to rubble in an Israeli air strike two days ago near the centre of Gaza.
"I was born here, and I will die here, leaving is a stigma."With power supplies cut and food and water in the Palestinian enclave running short after a week of retaliatory air strikes and a full Israeli blockade, the UN said Gaza's civilians were in an impossible situation.
"The noose around the civilian population in Gaza is tightening. How are 1.1 million people supposed to move across a densely populated warzone in less than 24 hours?" UN aid chief Martin Griffiths wrote on social media. White House national security spokesman John Kirby said such a huge evacuation was a "tall order", but that Washington would not second guess its ally's decision to tell civilians to get out of the way.
"We understand what they're trying to do and why they're trying to do this -- to try to isolate the civilian population from Hamas, which is their real target," he said on MSNBC. The northern half of the Gaza Strip includes the enclave's biggest settlement Gaza City. The UN said it had been told that Israel wanted the entire population to move across the wetlands that bisect the enclave.
"Civilians of Gaza City, evacuate south for your own safety and the safety of your families and distance yourself from Hamas terrorists who are using you as human shields," the Israeli military said, accusing Hamas of hiding in and under civilian buildings.
#SalmanKhan#Palestine
#Palestine Also, the sum of India's two responses so far reflects more balanced statements made in May 2021, when violence over a volley of rockets by Hamas and subsequent Israel air strikes left nearly 300 dead.
On that occasion India criticised both sides.
India's second, and more balanced response, to this round of war between Israel and the Hamas has been seen as significant also because of the domestic political row the conflict triggered.
After a statement defending their right to "live with dignity and respect, the opposition Congress was accused by the BJP of supporting terrorism and being a "hostage to minority vote bank politics".
READ |Explained: Why Congress Is Under Fire Over Its Statement On Israel War
Over 1,500 Gazans have been killed in Israeli air strikes so far, ahead of what will be a bloody ground incursion. And, following a "complete siege", over two million people are without electricity and are low on food, water, medicines and other essentials, raising fears of mass starvation and deaths.
Hamas' attacks killed over 1,200 people, including civilians, and they took around 150 hostages.
The threat of that ground incursion escalated sharply today after Israel ordered 1.1 million Gazan civilians in the north to move southwards, despite no clarity on any cessation in aerial strikes.

The United Nations has condemned Israel's demand, which has also been rejected by the Hamas.
#HrithikRoshan#ShameOnBCCI#SamBahadur#AUSvsSA#hamasiISIS#Palestine#Abhiya𓃵 In India's Second Statement On Israel-Gaza War, A Balancing Act
On Tuesday PM Modi spoke to his Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu and said, "India stands firmly with Israel... strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism..."New Delhi: India said Thursday it had "always advocated... direct negotiations towards establishing... a sovereign, independent, and viable state of Palestine". Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi also said India is aware of a universal obligation to observe international humanitarian law.
Describing India's position on the Palestine issue as "longstanding and consistent", Mr Bagchi had said the government would like to see negotiations leading to a Palestine state "living within secure and recognised borders, side-by-side (and) at peace with Israel. That position remains the same."The government's comments follow earlier statements offering unequivocal support for Israel and no mention of Palestine, which was criticised by opposition politicians and civil society activists.
In his first remark on the Hamas' October 7 strike, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared himself "deeply shocked" by the attack, which he swiftly identified as a "terrorist" action. On Tuesday the Prime Minister spoke to his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, on the phone, and said, "India stands firmly with Israel... strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism..."The two sets of comments are similar, in that both call out the global evil that is terrorism, but the emphasis this week on "a sovereign... and viable state of Palestine" has been seen as a significant opening of India's position on the war, which broke as Delhi seeks a bigger Middle East role. It has been seen as a recalibration of stances in light of Israel's devastating response.
India's initial response was seen as one dictated by both humanitarian concern for thousands killed or injured in Israel, and by growth of friendly ties under the Modi and Netanyahu governments. However, as the situation evolves, and if Arab states that have so far been relatively quiet about the assault on Gaza start to speak up, Delhi may find itself in a difficult situation.
It has multiple strategic, economic and cultural interests with the Arab nations. And then there is oil; India imports the bulk of its oil from Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. If this is stopped or reduced (for any reason), increased imports from Russia can offset some but not all.
India also has historically close ties with Palestine; in 1974 India was the first non-Arab state to recognise it as the "legitimate representative" of the Palestinians and, in 1988, as a full State.
Those ties have continued under the Modi government with the late Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj visiting Palestine in 2016 and the then Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas visiting India in 2017.
PM Modi returned Mr Abbas' visit a year later, when he said India hoped to see an "independent Palestinian state living in an environment of peace".
In fact, it isn't just PM Modi's BJP government that has called for "an independent state".
In 1977, when the late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of the BJP's tallest leaders, said that for the Middle East issue to be resolved "Israel must vacate Palestinian land it has illegally occupied".
That video re-emerged on social media this week as the Israel-Hamas hostilities escalated.
#DunkiTeaser#RajkumarHirani#SalmanKhan#IsraelPalestineConflict#Abhiya𓃵 #DishaPatani A 'New Front' In Hamas War Depends On Israel's Actions, Says Iran
Israel-Palestine War: Although Tehran has been a long-term backer of Hamas, Iranian officials have been adamant that the country had no involvement in the militants' attack against its arch enemy Israel on Saturday.
#DunkiTeaser#SalmanKhan#DishaPatani#Abhiya𓃵 #Palestine#Gazagenocide
