We held our @HMD_UK commemoration this morning. We were honoured to hear from our residents Arek Hersh, Leisel Carter & Trude Silman, who joined us in person, as well being able to read out a message from Suzanne Ripton, who was unable to join us.

As part of our @HMD_UK #80Candles project with @LJFSLeeds, pupils wrote some heartfelt and poignant poems inspired by Holocaust survivors and the Jewish community experience more broadly.

We have been involved in the #80Candles project, working with pupils @LJFSLeeds to create a candle & candleholder inspired by the stories of Holocaust survivors. These have been inspired by the stories of Arek Hersh and Trude Silman, two of our residents.

Today is #HolocaustMemorialDay , when we remember the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust. We also commemorate those murdered through the Nazi persecution of other groups & in the more recent genocides recognised by the UK government.

At the Domestic Abuse Conference, our Head of Housing, Nicki Clarke, said:
"A safe home is the foundation for recovery. We must address systemic inequalities, hold perpetrators accountable & center survivors in decisions."
