Brazil’s presidential candidates closed their campaigns Saturday with major rallies and motorcades across São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro ahead of Sunday’s first-round election.

Right-wing candidate Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, held motorcades in São Paulo and Rio, with supporters waving Brazil’s yellow-and-green flags.

Incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva closed his campaign with a large rally on São Paulo’s Avenida Paulista.

Polls showed a close race, with neither candidate expected to secure more than 50%, setting the stage for a likely runoff on October 25.
