Today’s lab compared the differences between petroleum-based oil (motor oil) and a renewable sourced oil (vegetable/corn/peanut). Motor oil was more efficient, but students noted the disadvantages being the excess smoke and air pollution & that sources will eventually run out.
G Block’s Biofuel lab is set up! From the manure ones, they’ll be harvesting methane. From the yeast ones, they’ll be harvesting CO2. They each gave their hypothesis for which combination they thought would be most efficient/productive. #rstories18#environmentalscience
We are THRILLED to have @JeffThornburg speak to the Environmental Science classes about his incredible career and alternative fuel sources he’s used in rocket propulsion. #rocketsarecool 🚀 #rstories17

Big money city! Lab groups were given criteria to include for a fictional city with the only instruction to make it realistic and sustainable, using all the knowledge they’ve learned thus far. #rstories18#environmentalscience
