I’m not sure how I felt about this speech. There were so many questionable topics brought up (suicide and the never ending days) that didn’t seem inspiring. I know that he was trying to use these things to make a point, but I feel like it didn’t have to be so depressing #laylit20

@litwithlayton One thing that was odd to me was that he kept bringing up suicide. I understand that wasn’t the main point, but it seems like something you wouldn’t want to bring up in a speech to kids about to start their lives. #laylit20

@Nanditaa_K I don’t think that people must completely detach from their emotions at war. I think it’s more a matter of knowing when to let your emotions interfere and when not to. In this moment in the story I think he had to detach, but I don’t think that this is always the case #laylit20

Barzov seems so ready to win the game, yet when Kelly doesn’t take his move back shouldn’t that give him a clue that Kelly has a plan to win? Why would he voluntarily give up his son if he wasn’t sure he could win? #laylit20

@sarahliucifer I think that this might be an escape for those who don’t have family to celebrate with or for people who feel alone and forgotten during the holidays. It’s hard to see people celebrating when you are alone, so that might entice people to end their lives. #laylit20

I wanted to know why society used the numbing meds instead of the pills that were given to N at the end of the story? If they keep pregnancy from occurring, then why not just use them? They achieve the same goal of the other pills. #laylit20

@CappabiancaMeg I think it is an intimate secret bc she hasn’t told J abt any of the letters, meeting A, or the kiss. She’s kept it all to herself and it’s clear she has a connection with A. All that said, this is def a secret close to her and I think it’s gonna get her into trouble #laylit20

Do you think F should feel guilty about not telling J abt the kiss? It wasn’t intentional, but it was longer than she should have made it. J told her about the affair, but some might argue that that was a very different situation. #laylit20

@litwithlayton I think that the kiss was added to reference the argument her and her husband had earlier in the book. It’s really creepy, but she doesn’t pull away and she’s had this connection with A since she read abt his case. Maybe it’s to hint that she still wants intimacy. #laylit20

I don’t understand why F doesn’t want to write A back. She seemed to have a connection with him at the hospital and she’s been stuck on his case for a while, yet she doesn’t write him back. Why doesn’t she at least respond with a simple “glad to hear you’re doing well” #laylit20

@CappabiancaMeg I think that they play a big role bc this is the first time that her work life and personal life actually do mix. She lets her emotions in the case affect her in her issues with her husband and her lack of children. #laylit20
