Like sorry, but I’m saying this as a Carney voter. I’m not voting a Liberal Party. We do not need Ontario politics in BC where there’s three left parties that are too busy squabbling with each other while the Conservatives cruise to victory.
The status quo is preferable to that.
Who would even lead a Liberal Party in BC?
It’s very easy to say a Liberal Party would win when it only exists in your imagination, but in reality it’s insulting to the intelligence of British Columbians to assume we’re merely blind sheep who would vote for Liberals by default.
Not so, it's super fragile. I reiterate, 60-70% of British Columbians are politically homeless! They want Eby gone, but KLF is not their choice for that. A Liberal alternative would win the next election #bcpoli
Ever since Harris’ defeat it’s crazy how many progressive men have revealed their insecurities about the left
Like they treat the “HR Lady” as a proxy for their nagging mother who made them eat their vegetables. They’re still deeply insecure about women holding power over them
Eby needs to go.
Yes, KLF is a weak candidate, but so is Eby now. I’m not convinced there’s very many people on the NDP side that would do any worse than this.

kinda wish i saw rainbow capitalism everywhere this year but unfortunately even our own community bitched and bitched about it so now we’re even further into conservative fashion norms & everyone is dressing like it’s little house on the prairie month instead of PRIDE MONTH
Conservatives can easily whinge about child groomers and penises in the women’s washrooms.
Meanwhile, to counter that messaging requires extreme tact by a large category of people, and that’s tough in a time of social media when bad actors are easily found and ridiculed.
It’s more complicated than this, but I think a lot of the problem is that it’s easier to villainize minority groups than it is to humanize them.
Anti-LGBT propaganda can exploit one’s disgust reflex to make you angry, any pro-LGBT messaging isn’t capable of operating like that.
Gallup's new poll finds Americans continue to sour on LGBT issues relative to 2022.
The share of Americans who say:
- Same-sex marriage is valid: Down 6 pts
- Gay/lesbian relations morally acceptable: Down 9 pts
- Changing one’s gender morally acceptable: Down 8, to just 38%
But you do not need photo ID to vote in Canada. There are a near countless amount of documents one can use as valid ID. It is designed to ensure that basically everyone is able to vote
This is not what Republicans want at all. They want strict photo ID if not more restrictive.
why are american leftists so against the idea of needing ID in order to vote. i needed an ID when i voted in canada. it's pretty normal and not at all unreasonable to be asked to prove you are who you say you are.
I think a lot of the demand for a centrist party is just from Liberals who are attached to the Liberal brand.
The far more rational idea if you want to stop premier KLF is to just throw Eby under the bus rather than start a new party.
I don’t really think we need a centrist alternative in BC. The
BC NDP are already centrist enough.
Their problem is not ideological positioning per se, the far bigger problem is that they’ve been in power for ten years and all the baggage that comes with that.
@marissenmark That would be good for the Conservatives. A Liberal party would take more from the NDP as that’s who the large majority of fed Libs vote for provincially.
It would be far more likely to just split the vote on the left than anything else.
@Prominent_Bryan It is an obvious mistake to presume that because KLF won those areas in a leadership race that advantage would extend to a general election.
There’s an entirely different pool of voters to compete for.
Everyone is throwing blame around for Alberta seperation and I would just like to say that I blame separatists themselves.
Grow up and stop being such big whiny selfish babies. The world doesn't revolve around you. Go volunteer your time, money and energy into your community.
@nikicaga It’s just one poll so it shouldn’t be read into too much, but the NDP really only have up to go from last year. It was only a matter of time before they recovered some support.
NEW – Here is the map of round 1 results of the BC Conservative leadership race.
Findlay led in ridings in blue; Elliott in ridings in teal; Black in ridings in yellow; Fulmer in ridings in pink; and Milobar in ridings in green.
Surrey-Newton and Cariboo-Chilcotin were tied.
