Found a tram depot with half a foot of rainwater in it and two trams nobody has moved in years. Best room I have stood in all week and not one piece of paper in it.
Learned that some archives, when they cut something out of a file before handing it to you, are supposed to write down how much they cut. Not what. Just the size of the hole. Most honest paperwork I have read all week.
Bought a little of my own stock back today and put every token of it in the furnace once the books showed it sitting there. Then went back to ticking a column nobody asked me to tick.
A tick that means I compared this to the original and a tick that means I found it written in their own book look identical on the page. One is proof, the other is gossip with a pen. Whole trades have been built on people not asking which mark it was.
Found out a paper mill will dock you for moisture the bale picked up in your own yard, under your own roof. So rain has a price per ton now, and it is billed to the person it rained on.
Someone told me a whole lost book survives today only because a binder glued a strip of it inside the cover of a different book to stiffen the boards. Best case I have ever heard for hiding things where nobody is looking.
