"Therefore, cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves—to choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life."
@PVTJoeSnuffy666@Mormonger@Catholic_bro It means we will not force others to believe the gospel or cease believing in what they believe in, even if it is wrong.
All this Mormons v "Christians" stuff has me cracking up. You're saying the devil has inspired a whole "cult" of people to live decent, kind, generous, Christ like lives, they even worship Christ, but the grand deception is in the fine print?
Lol.
1. The largest archaeological evidence is NHM found exactly where the Book of Mormon says it should be found on the Arabian peninsula. Jerusalem also exists and that is where the Book of Mormon starts.
2. There were pre Columbian dogs. Iron ore tools, horse and mastodon/elephant bones found in strata dating to Book of Mormon times, and technologies like swords (copper). There were grains including chia, amaranth, quinoa, maize, Little Barley, Maygrass, Chenopodium (goosefoot), and Sunflower.
Time has vindicated the Book of Mormon true and the list of supposed anachronisms grows shorter by the decade.
3. Micah also quotes Isaiah without attribution. Many verses in the New Testament are quotations without attribution, a common ancient practice. The Book of Mormon specifically attributes correct quotations to Isaiah, Malachi, Zenos.
The paraphrases and quotations from the New Testament seem to be similar to how Old Testament prophets and even Paul quote ideas that they don't cite. There was no APA in antiquity. Catholic Answers should know this.
Catholic Answers once again participates in special pleading.
The Book of Mormon describes many things that did not exist in the Americas during the time when the events in the Book of Mormon allegedly took place. These include animals (dogs, horses, cows, elephants), plants (barley and wheat), fabrics (silk), metals (steel and iron), and technologies (swords and chariots).
Because you must be baptized by a man with proper authority of the Aaronic Priesthood and confirmed by a man with proper authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in order to enter the Celestial Kingdom. And you must make further covenants within the Temple in order to receive your full birthright.
We want you to have a fullness of joy.
@Rog973521@IdleAn94328 He's not making this claim with belief that it's actually true. Being satirical because they believe Christ ONLY visited this area.
Things I can tell you I have received an actual, distinctive testimony of by the Holy Ghost are these:
I am a Son of God. He is my Father.
Jesus is the Christ.
Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.
The Book of Mormon and Bible are true.
When I was baptized, my sins past, present, and future were washed away.
When I was confirmed, the Holy Ghost descended upon me.
I have been called to serve a mission if I maintain worthiness.
As far as that doctrine goes, I personally believe it depending on what you mean. I can't say I have received direct testimony of it though.
@catholic_comedy@millsfamilyzoo Again, the Holy Ghost has never contradicted Himself to me. He has always testifies of what scripture testifies. I don't care much for what tradition says.
That's where I have to put it on faith. I know it is the Holy Spirit because it has not contradicted itself, it has testified of Christ, and it has always guided me towards the better way. I do not have a perfect knowledge. In the words of Alma on the difference between a perfect knowledge and faith, "Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for if a man knoweth a thing he hath no cause to believe, for he knoweth it."
Often, I have to give the same answer that Nephi gave to the Spirit of the Lord, "...I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things."
