My name is Juan Carlos Sierra, a Cuban exile, a medical professional, and a proud worker in the United States. I risked everything to escape communism crossing jungles, evading cartels, and walking through deadly terrain just to reach the land of freedom and contribute to this nation with dignity and service.
That’s why I find it profoundly unjust and offensive that figures like Alejandro Cuervo a well-known Cuban TV actor who works under the same regime that represses and silences our people are granted U.S. tourist visas so easily.
He recently visited Miami while continuing to appear on Cuban state television, where he has never spoken a word against the dictatorship. In fact, he publicly admitted: “I know what I can and cannot say.”
That is not neutrality — that is survival through silent complicity.
And it’s not just him:
Haila Mompié: once praised Fidel Castro, yet tours the U.S.
Edith Massola: a face of Cuban state media, visits the U.S. while never condemning the regime.
Paulito FG, Alain Daniel, Isaac Delgado: once official mouthpieces in Cuba, now come and go as if nothing happened.
Erick “El Chef Cubano”: travels freely, monetizes U.S. social media, and never dares to speak of political prisoners or repression.
Meanwhile, thousands of real Cuban refugees like myself still wait for legal status, struggling every day, building lives, paying taxes, and respecting the values of this country.
This is not just unfair it’s dangerous:
It sends the message that silence toward dictatorships is rewarded, while true political opposition is punished or ignored.
It makes the U.S. immigration system look like a playground for regime-friendly artists, while freedom fighters are treated with suspicion or delay.
It weakens the credibility of U.S. asylum policy when the same people who "escape" a dictatorship can safely return weeks later to perform on state media.
Senator Rubio, I respectfully ask:
Don’t let those of us who risked everything for liberty be overshadowed by those who protect their careers through silence.
America should never become a safe haven for silent collaborators, while leaving real exiles abandoned in legal limbo.
Let our sacrifice be seen. Let our voices be heard.
