[HOME AFFAIRS OFFICIALS FRAUDULENTLY GIVING FOREIGNERS PASSPORTS]
Aluwani Andries Netshidaulu and Ntombifuthi Phyllis Mokwebo appeared before the Protea Magistrates’ Court after their arrest on 29 September 2026 during a takedown operation conducted under Project Humulani. The accused face charges of racketeering, corruption, fraud, and contravention of the Immigration Act.
Project Humulani was launched in 2021 after information emerged regarding an alleged syndicate involving foreign nationals, Home Affairs officials, and South African citizens in the fraudulent procurement of South African passports.
Investigations uncovered an alleged scheme in which the identity details of South African citizens were paired with photographs of foreign nationals to facilitate the unlawful issuance of South African passports.
The investigation further revealed that foreign nationals allegedly paid between R50 000 and R100 000 for fraudulently obtained passports. Home Affairs officials implicated in the scheme were allegedly paid between R10 000 and R15 000 per application, while South African citizens who provided their personal details were allegedly compensated with R500.
The long-running investigation has yielded significant results, including the seizure of luxury vehicles and the blocking and cancellation of several hundred fraudulently obtained passports.
One of the accused linked to the matter, Pakistani national Arfan Ahmad, who allegedly maintained a corrupt relationship with Home Affairs officials, was previously convicted and is currently serving a 14-year sentence of direct imprisonment. Ahmad also appeared in court alongside the two accused.
The investigation is being led by Lieutenant Colonel Mathebula, with support from financial investigators and the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) of the NPA. The investigation has further benefited from prosecution-led support provided by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Jacob Serepo and State Prosecutors Siyabonga Futshana and Lindiwe Gumede.
Both Netshidaulu and Mokwebo were released on unopposed bail of R5 000 each. The matter was postponed to 04 November 2026 to allow Ahmad to secure legal representation and for further investigations.
Investigations remain ongoing, and additional arrests are expected as authorities continue to pursue all individuals implicated in the alleged syndicate.

The ANC created the perfect conditions for crime to thrive.
Weakened SAPS, collapsed forensics, gutted Crime Intelligence. Left borders porous while Home Affairs sold IDs, creating untraceable ghost persons.
Hollowed out the NPA, so conviction rates are pathetic. Criminals know they won't go to jail. Tender mafia, construction mafia, zama-zamas survive because politically connected people protect them.
Cadre deployment chose loyalty over competence. Service delivery collapsed. They built a system to protect themselves, not citizens.
This party must go. 2029 is too far.
Until you get married, you will never understand why most married men cheat. Your wife can decide to close the strait of Hormuz for a whole month and because some men cannot go for long without oil, they decide to get it from Venezuela.
SARS Obtains Tax Judgment Against Mpho Maboi Over Unpaid Tax
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has obtained a tax judgment against broadcaster Mpho Maboi over an outstanding personal income tax debt of more than R468,000.
Court papers cited by Briefly News show that Maboi’s original tax liability was just over R336,000. Interest of more than R14,600 and penalties of nearly R135,000 increased the amount owed.
SARS issued a final letter of demand on 19 June 2026, putting the outstanding balance at R468,136.42.
The revenue service gave Maboi 10 business days to settle the debt or make use of available options, including arranging an instalment agreement, requesting the suspension of payment while disputing the assessment, or applying for a compromise.
SARS also warned that it could take further recovery steps if the matter was not resolved.
Under sections 172 to 174 of the Tax Administration Act, SARS can, after giving the required notice, file a certified statement of an outstanding tax debt with a competent court. The statement is then treated as a civil judgment in favour of SARS for the amount specified.
The Constitutional Court has confirmed that a tax judgment issued through this process can be subject to a later rescission application in appropriate circumstances.
Maboi has acknowledged the judgment and said her legal and financial representatives are dealing with the matter.
“Yes, I’m aware. My lawyer, accountant and SARS are dealing with it… A reversal of the judgment is pending. I’m not ducking my responsibilities as a law-abiding citizen,” she said, according to Briefly News.
The judgment does not, on its own, establish that Maboi deliberately avoided paying tax. It concerns an outstanding assessed tax debt and SARS's efforts to recover it.
Maboi is a broadcaster and sports presenter who has worked in radio and television, including at Metro FM, YFM, Kaya FM and SuperSport. Kaya FM confirmed in 2026 that she would continue as part of its breakfast-show team alongside DJ Fresh and Thato Mataboge.
