@EquityLiteracy - what do you think about "simplifying complex problems" as being an equity detour? Simplifying an issue so it is "easier" to understand leads to hiding the details that need to be addressed.
Do you ever fully read job descriptions? Do you look for particular language to see how companies present themselves? And then do you dig deeper to find out if how they present themselves is truth?
I am going to share a line that totally intrigued me…
@DebbieDonsky My daughter was born in December 1989 in what was west Germany. There was a lot going on for us in Germany then. The Gulf War being one as the Canadian base we lived on was considered in theatre. I remember watching CNN sitting mesmerized watching the wall come down rock by rock
@fordnation We need affordable housing not more million+ houses in land that should be kept green. Please stop lining your pockets while suggesting you’re doing something good for the people.
@ShameelaShakeel I had so hoped you’d win. Thanks for being willing to do the hard work. I thought about throwing my name on the ballot and saw that you had and was happy to vote for you.
And ALL the other organizations that let women go for X reasons. Bell is not the only guilty organization. A greying woman isn’t the only reason. Race, trans, sexual orientation, religion …. We need to talk about this. Intersectionality increases the prevalence.
"Bell, what is your plan?...What will you do not just for Lisa but for us all." I joined many others in signing this open letter in @globeandmail to Bell Canada about @BellMediaPR's "business decision" to fire Lisa LaFlamme in prime of her career. Have a read & RT if you support.
This really speaks to me. I’ve experienced the opposite where the work environment was incredibly toxic. I’m glad I got out. My heart bleeds for those still trapped in it. I try to lead this way. Caring authentic relationships is everything.
Employees are not resources to manage. They’re humans to value.
Bad managers only care about your results. Good managers care about your well-being. Great managers care more about your well-being than your results.
We do our best work when leaders put people above performance.
For those who don't know; the name Ottawa comes from the Algonquin word Adàwe, meaning "to trade."
Where Ottawa is now was a major trading hub for Indigenous folks from all over Turtle Island and accessible by waterways and is still unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin territory.
To fight Zoom fatigue, give people the freedom to turn their cameras off.
New experiment: videos off reduces exhaustion and boosts engagement—especially for women and newcomers.
Cameras off doesn't reflect disengagement. It helps to prevent burnout and promote attention.
Yup. Been on the receiving end of a toxic boss. Best outcome from that is to learn what not to do. “A leader’s duty is to care.” So very important during these difficult times.
A toxic boss stabs you in the back. A selfish boss holds you back. A supportive boss has your back and propels you forward.
Even more than performance, great managers invest in people. They promote your growth and well-being.
A leader's duty is to care. https://t.co/OgW1WT82mp
