@Fair_and_Biased Conservatives have advocated for decreased government spending including welfare programs for decades. We also understand it's never just a "rerouting" if money - it's an expansion of a government program.
@SteveDeaceShow Do you mean the welfare reform act that ended the limitless benefits and incentived a path towards work? Yeah that sound like a Republican I want to vote for, not one incentiving a parent below the poverty line to stay at home.
@michaeljknowles@swifthampton Congress could try passing legislation. That would be a great start, but legislation is boring and doesn't feed the grift/outrage machine.
Let me reframe the Trump/Vance child care credit argument for you in simple economic terms.
Option 1) The government cuts my taxes by $9,000. I keep the $9,000 and my family is benefitted by the whole amount.
Option 2) The government gives a $9,000 credit to "stay-at-home moms." In order to give that credit, the government has to take approximately $19,000 dollars from taxpayers to pay for administration and distribution of the funds, and for the 50% of funds (conservatively estimated) that will go toward fraud and waste.
This is a no-brainer. End the government handouts. Reduce taxes, cut spending, prosecute fraud, let the free market work.
You know she’s not religious? The chaplain testified to statements LC made, not the morality of those statements. Also, they brought it up again after being warned by the judge, among other problems with their theory and tactics. Also, not a mortal sin if the person did not have full knowledge or deliberate consent, ie if in psychosis not a mortal sin.
@KeenanPeachy European countries have generous social welfare, paid family leave, paternal leave, etc. Germany, for example, has kindergeld, which pays a fixed amount of money per month, per child. Their native population birth rate is still below replacement. It’s cultural, not financial.
@michellmybell1 Yes! I think they're just pursuing viral clips! Let's say we repeal the 19th. Since voting is left to the states, which states are baring women from voting? Hint not the one with the liberal voters. It will only galvanize them.
The proscutors kept attempting to introduce mortal sin into this trial. To be a mortal sin: a grave matter, full knowledge, and deliberate consent. There are 11 jurors that questioned her knowledge that the act was morally wrong or against the law OR that she freely chose to commit the act. This why the church recognizes diminished responsibility and her priest was behind her.
