Y’all, please don’t watch that documentary, especially during the first week of release. Don’t give in to curiosity. Netflix isn’t actively promoting it, and the last thing we need is for it to end up in the Top 10.

They also emphasized that the estate is closely monitoring the situation and greatly appreciates all the support from fans in defending Michael, as well as the affection shown and the actions many are taking, including canceling streaming subscriptions as a form of protest against the documentary.

We sympathize with your feelings. Unfortunately, other than denying requests for the use of footage, images, music or other IP owned by the Estate, the Estate has no legal grounds to stop any documentary whether it tells truths or lies since there is no protection against defamation for the deceased.

We certainly appreciate seeing many fans on social media mentioning that they are canceling their Netflix subscriptions due to frustration with this documentary.

32 years ago today, on May 26, 1994, Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley secretly got married in the Dominican Republic, just 20 days after Lisa’s official divorce from Danny Keough. The ceremony was small, private, and completely hidden from the media.

For weeks, nobody publicly knew they were husband and wife until Lisa confirmed the marriage in August of that year.

Michael and Lisa had first met in 1974, when Lisa was still a child, but their real connection only grew years later, in the early 1992 especially after the 1993 allegations, when Michael was emotionally devastated and Lisa became one of his greatest sources of support.

From the very beginning, their relationship was surrounded by intense media pressure, rumors, and public skepticism. Many people questioned whether their love was real, while both of them struggled to protect the relationship from constant scrutiny.

As time went on, the marriage slowly became emotionally exhausting. There were conflicts involving Michael’s isolation, the overwhelming pressure of fame, personal differences, and especially his strong desire to have children with Lisa something she initially seemed open to, but later pulled away from, which reportedly hurt Michael deeply.

The divorce came in January 1996, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Still, their story did not completely end there. Even after separating, Michael and Lisa continued seeing each other until around 1998, through reunions, trips, emotional conversations, and attempts at reconciliation.

Years later, Lisa admitted that one of her biggest regrets was not being able to help Michael more. Michael, in private conversations, also confessed that he struggled with romantic relationships and often felt trapped by the expectations that came with marriage and normal domestic life.

In the end, perhaps their story was never really about “villains,” but about two people who genuinely loved each other and eventually became emotionally worn down by the chaos surrounding their lives.
