To fully commercialize our livestock sector, we need consistent supply of over 50 million tonnes of animal feed or 2.6 billion bales of hay per year. Production of the same will see demand for our meat, milk and eggs increase.
Players in the animal feed industry met today and aligned on a strategy to speed up the production of quality feed and forage in the quantities required.
In attendance were representatives from FAO, AU-IBAR, ILRI, McKinsey, Kenya Development Corporation, AKAFEMA, Fodder & Pasture Association, Land Commercialization Initiative and the State Department of Livestock Development.
