@AnnieDevlin@IrishCycle Even the partial closure temporarily of parts of Strand Rd has led to a massive extra flow of traffic on Serpentine & Tritonville Rds and Church Ave. So much for “ traffic evaporation “ Contrary to good planning low traffic neighbourhoods have been turned into high traffic ones.
Bath Avenue bottled up once again due to HGV unable to get under #luas bridge. And the Beach Road cycling scheme proposes to divert trucks this route? 🤯 🤪#sandymount#cyclinglanes#beachroad
@Aidan_Regan@mannixflynn aidan. to deliver such needed infrastructure we need honest engagement. DCC didnt even engage with local Cllrs before announcing the imposition of Strand Road proposal.
@decjordan@Aidan_Regan@mannixflynn Cllrs will support cycling infrastructure but we need to do our job too and that means we need to be informed and communities not dictated too by Officials at both Local and Department levels. we do live in a democracy.
@rothairisbeoir Closing one lane of Strand Road to motor traffic does 0 on climate change & sends massive polluting & cyclist endangering traffic into local roads
@roisiningle @MarianKeyes Pedalling your own #bikeagenda & putting down @mannixflynn on your #IrishTimes platform is #unfair You rightly point out that #Sandmount is well served by the #Dart yet you think driving Port traffic through Sandymount roads is OK. Read the High Court judgment in full please!
@roisiningle @MarianKeyes If local authorities won't adhere to the due planning processes then the very least I would expect of elected councillors would be to challenge that practice, in everybody's interest. The end, however laudible, does not justify the means. Ignoring process opens gate for all sorts
@DavidCostelloDC@DubCityCouncil@dublincycling @roisiningle @mannixflynn It doesn’t need to be tried to be clear that it’s unworkable, pushing traffic into local rat roads. I live in Sandymount and am a keen cyclist. I’d love a cycle lane but not the cheap, disastrous one proposed undemocratically by DCC and rejected, democratically by the courts
@rhetorician@IrishTimes Not gonna lie, thought turning Strand Road into 1way system, for any reason, was completely https://t.co/pXHZqD3PUd key route into/out of city,to airport&the North via the tunnel, displaced traffic would’ve caused chaos, v negatively impacting local areas. There’s gotta be another way
@ccferrie @hughpmullen @DublinAirport So if you lived in sandymount u would be happy for a taxi to take you back up to the m50 and drive u to the airport for what would be double the fare. Catch a grip of yourself
@Sinabhfuil @ClimateHuman Get real Petrichor- the closing of Strand Rd to northbound traffic would have taken 0 / ZERO motor vehicles off roads . It would have diverted them to smaller local roads full of kids cycling to school& sports
@Sinabhfuil @ClimateHuman Local roads in Ballsbridge, Donnybrook and Sandymount, increasing emissions from idle engines. There is room for a 2 way cycle path alongside the 2 way road, the planning was non existent. Having lived in Amsterdam and The Hague and Copenhagen, I've never seen such bad planning
@DubCityCouncil I think you are confused about the dos and donts of the planning process. The Judge had to tell you that a cycle lane is permanent. https://t.co/1os53R2ybS
Here are the locations for where HIPPOCAMPE beach wheelchairs are available for use by the public. Please share as widely as possible so as many users as possible can use them.
