If Alito retires, he could well be replaced by a 40-year-old ultra-conservative.
It’s no overstatement to say the next 50 years of American jurisprudence are on the ballot this fall.
To provide a check on Trump’s nominees, we need a Democratic Senate. Vote accordingly.
A young woman bravely reported that she was sexually assaulted in 2024 by seven men at their fraternity. But instead of protecting her, Cornell University protected her abusers, letting them off with a slap on the wrist.
It’s outrageous and a failure of both the institution and a societal norm that consistently makes light of sexual assault.
The law isn’t helping. New York’s voluntary intoxication loophole makes it nearly impossible for survivors to seek justice if they drank or used substances prior to an assault. Because of this loophole, Jane Doe’s assailants may never be held accountable under the law.
I want my daughters to grow up in a world that is safe. Women deserve to feel safe on campus. That means perpetrators must be held accountable for violating women to the fullest extent of the law. And we need federal action to ensure that those who commit sexual assault and the institutions that protect them face consequences.
Tomorrow, on October 1, the biggest transfer of wealth from the working class to the wealthy hits a critical milestone. Many of the provisions from the Big Ugly Bill will go into effect, harming hundreds of thousands of Michiganders in order to create tax cuts for the richest people in America.
To name some of the worst...
✖️Medicaid and SNAP have been cut to deliver $4.5 trillion in tax cuts primarily for billionaires and corporations.
✖️Michigan is set to lose $2-3 billion annually in federal Medicaid and SNAP funding.
✖️The changes in this bill will eliminate tens of thousands of energy and manufacturing jobs in Michigan due to lost investment.
✖️Michigan hospitals will lose $6 billion in Medicaid payments by 2036.
✖️Over 200K Michiganders are set to lose healthcare.
✖️211,000 Michigan households will suffer from SNAP cuts. Nearly 121,000 Michiganders have already lost their SNAP benefits.
✖️Energy bills across Michigan will go up by a total of $8.7 billion by 2034.

CNN: Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear criticizes Democrats for saying that transgender athletes can’t play in women’s sports.
“That is not the party that we are. We start as a party of compassion and empathy. And I tell you what, if we want to ruin sports, put government in charge of them.”

Donald Trump is not himself the disease of our politics. He’s just the worst symptom.
The disease is the system that allows corporations to buy and sell politicians so they can rig it against the rest of us.
Money out of politics. Money in your pocket. Medicare for All.
