I’m proud to be an Orthotist, I’m proud to be a part of the HCPC community and I want to continue to be a part of a profession that looks to promote equality and diversity and I think we all have a role to play in trying to progress our profession
After reading @HCPC 2021 Diversity Data Report it was disappointing to see the figures reported from the Prosthetics and Orthotics profession. Not just in regard to underrepresentation of the BAME comm. but also bc of the number of individuals that responded to the survey(thread)
I personally think a good starting point is improving responsiveness to surveys such as this, collecting data as we all know is imperative. Data = Knowledge. Good data provides us with information needed to decipher what the problem is and the extent of it.
It allows us to identify challenges, respond and be proactive rather than reactive and of course good data enables us to measure the effectiveness of interventions in place. It is for this reason being non-dismissive about surveys such as this and being aware of data is important
Coming to the end of MS Awareness week! MS is the leading cause of neurological disability in young adults and can present in many different ways with varying degrees of severity. Education and understanding is an imperative part of what we can all do to support those with MS
‘Together we can beat MS.’
Dr Ming Lim, a specialist in Multiple Sclerosis in children at @EvelinaLondon@GSTTnhs, is using #MSAwarenessWeek to highlight the progress made in our battle against the condition and pay tribute to the strength and courage of those living with MS.

A more detailed look at the function/purpose of an aponeurosis groove. Of course it’s good to be knowledgeable of the wide range of modifications available to us for FFOs, but how many of us really understand the mechanics and design features behind these modifications? 🤔
Special shout out to the lead prosthetics technician Dave Batten. I’ve learnt ridiculous amounts from him! We’ve become best pals & i’ll honestly miss him! Also look at this panda drawing he did and embroidered onto a jumper/shirt for me as a leaving present. THE MAN’S A SAINT ❤️
Really sad to be leaving my prosthetics placement today 😭 It’s been a great experience, I’ve learnt a tremendous amount and been lucky enough to be surrounded by a team of truly wonderful people!
Nyglass, glass fibre matting & carbon fibre layups with a caucasian coloured resin pour. Final socket will be ready for fitting tomorrow then will be finished with a skull design (lycra sock) 💀 Final prosthesis will integrate the Harmony P4 🦿(time-lapse of processes in thread)
