From this class, I have learned that disruptive change has an impact all around us and whether we are aware of it or not, the world is never going to stop. We can see it, electronics and digital technology will one day take over the world. #DCIM353b
One way this course has influenced me to think differently about human behavior is that it makes me rethink how people interact online and how differently people are when they are being their most authentic self verses being their online character. #DCIM353b
@OmarSohail13 I think you make a great point about the drawback being the size of the phone, but in reality, we see phones getting bigger with each release. With that, we also see that foldable devices are getting a lot of backlash from product testers because it is not meeting expectations.
@RUMariaLozano The healthcare industry as we see it now is becoming more digital in terms of accessing our health records but, I think it would be beneficial to utilize a technology that allows us to better determine where issues in the body are so doctors could more accurately diagnose them.
@KaitlynHall326 I would love to see Amazon have a delivery service like that, but just as a lot of stores that we grew up with (ToysRUs), we see a change in how technology has already impacted our lives.
The future of technology is that life-changing medical devices will help patients to live their best lives and help to prevent the progression of diseases. The impact that this would have in the future would be the increase to life expectancy based on technology. #DCIM353b
@JennaDeMatoPR The idea behind FOBM is one that many people feel is relevant to their lives. It is interesting to note that the world used to rely on face-to-face interaction, and now everything is online and if we aren't checking our accounts, we feel like we are missing out on the world.
@bronstein_kasey One of the most important coping mechanisms mentioned by Rainie and Wellman (in Ch. 10 of textbook), is that you need to "invest in your existing relationships so people are there when you need them", is important to remember because that it follows the "Golden Rule".
@RUMariaLozano Great point! It is important that we know the different companies that have the most ownership in media because they have a profound influence on our communications with those around us as well as how we access our news/media.
For this exam, I think it is important to study Goffman's idea of the performed self. This concept talks about how we "act out" parts of our lives and are performing a "show" depending on our situations and acting how we think that that role should behave. #DCIM353b
One identity that I "perform" offline is the role of an instructor. I usually help teach other students, faculty, and staff new technical skills as well as provide resources for them to refer to if they need more assistance #DCIM353b
My advice for students who look to communicate effectively via hashtag with students from other schools would be, look for common interests and discuss how it varies based on the school. As this activity concludes, I wish everyone good luck with finals! #DCIM353b#TXC19
My primary "takeaway" from this activity was that even though we are all students at different universities, we have similar views when it comes to classwork and exploring what our campus has to offer. #DCIM353b#TXC19
@parkermcgowan6 I wish I enjoyed traveling, it seems like exploring the world can really help people define who they are or aspire to be somme day. Have you traveled to any places worth visiting again? Have you done study abroad at RU?
@As2830rutgerse1 I just recently got into wood-working (lots of fun and a good way to get out frustrations). I think creation rather than purchasing gifts are more special and shows the type of person you are and how people remember you.
@LaurenCaputo8 Internships are a great way to help us create our professional brand. Speaking from experience, a lot of what I have learned about my career path came from interning.
My professional brand is represented by this photo because I am proud to work for the company (written on the bottle) that contributed to the creation of (my favorite Starbucks drink) the Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher (to the right of the bottle). #DCIM353b#TXC19
I feel that my personal identity is represented through my passion for scenic photography. I like the feeling of being able to live in the moment but also capture the beauty of the world around me. #DCIM353B#TXC19
@CavalloJulia Great tip! In order to be successful, we have to be willing to learn new things and that starts with attending class. Additionally, it gives us a better understanding of the material in a specific topic area as well as an opportunity to network with other students.
