A lovely afternoon being artists and exploring printmaking with local artist Ronnie Broadley. We pressed objects into playdough and then used the playdough to make prints. A big thank you to Ronnie.
Used to do celebration assembly religiously and now 😭 #newjoblife but, greeted by this happy face when I managed to get home early, she ran down the street, squealing, flailing arms, wrapping herself round me with the most awesome news. I think no explanation is needed. 💜proud!
As Historians and geographers, year 1 crew visited the SS Nornen shipwreck on Berrow Beach today. All were exceptionally well behaved and absorbed the learning experience like sponges! We created a huge piece of art work using drift wood to make our own replica of the ship wreck.
The Year 2 crew have been amazing writers this week, innovating the Great Explorer story. We can't wait to invent our own journey stories.
We have also been fantastic mathmeticians. We have worked really hard to understand division. We were so speedy in the fluency challenge.
This morning the Discoverers took part in some yoga in the school hall. Yoga poses work through a range of muscles in the body, and this helps children find their symmetry. It helps improve their body coordination and encourages motor development @tplt@CastleBatch
We then made medicine using natural ingredients (similar to the ones they had during the Neolithic Period), ground wheat to make flour and churned butter! @BerrowPrimary
As historians today, we ventured out to New Barn where we carved Chalk, built dens, used some of the methods to light fires and drill holes. @BerrowPrimary
Boiled eggs for snack, with thanks to Westcroft Nurseriesfor supplying, followed by week two of toolwork. This week, whittling and bow saws. Next week we will be making our own musical instruments using the techniques and skills we have gained🪵🪚
Whilst some enjoyed the big puddles, others got down to tool work to make our very own coasters. Great work everyone. Working together to achieve in Forest school@berrowprimary 🪵🪚
So proud! BPCA have been awarded a ‘Thriving level 4’ award from “Burnham in Bloom!”
So proud of the outdoor learning/forest school!
Thank you to everyone involved. Lots more to come! 🌿@BerrowPrimary
Giggles, games and crafts in our final forest school sessions this week for KS1 and lower KS2 groups. Santa themed blindfold walks, singing and Christmas chocolate lollies. Merry Christmas to you all! 🎄@BerrowPrimary
Final forest school for upper KS2 for 2023 this afternoon. challenge: boys against girls in lighting the kellykettles! Girls won! All enjoyed Christmas chocolate lollies and hot chocolate. Fab times. Great memories.
Merry Christmas! @BerrowPrimary
Year 6 came to spend time with their buddies from fireflies this afternoon. After talking about Christmas traditions at home, the children went off to make paper chains. Finished chain-27metres long! Research/craft/Maths/teamwork/outdoor learning @BerrowPrimary@BenFowlerBPCA
Fireflies took their learning outside to explore shapes in their environment. Tuning into sights and sounds the children soon could see the 2D shapes all around us.

What a great ‘The best part of me…’ exhibition we had today. Thank you to everyone who came!
We also extended our enquiry question by thinking about ‘What makes my family special’ ready for our learning next week… watch this space!
