Our new adventure begins!
Tomorrow evening our newest section starts it's Scouting journey, as we welcome Squirrels to 1st LR&D.
Squirrel Scouts will bring children age 4-6 into Scouting in our local area to give them skills for life.

Our Beavers were learning map and navigation skills for their navigator badge.
The Cubs were taking on some problem solving activities.
The Scouts had a visit from a former Scout to talk about life in the army.

The Beavers worked on their cyclist badge.
The Cubs were working on the space badge and a few problem solving activities.
The Scouts prepped their navigation skills ahead of an upcoming expedition hike.
We're so pleased to announce that one of our Scouts, Max, has been selected for the 2027 World Scout Jamboree in Poland!
Max is also a young leader with our Beavers section. We're very proud of you!

The Beavers had a backwoods cooking and whittling night, and a team building challenge night.
The Cubs have had a team building night and a navigation skills evening.
The Scouts had a games night to start, then a team challenge night.
On Saturday our Scouts returned from the Kent International Jamboree. Looks like they had an absolutely amazing week! 😍 Thank you so much to all the leaders who took the time to take them on this brilliant trip.

The Beavers had a family picnic and awards night at Dorney Playground.
The Cubs had their annual Cubs v Parents cricket night and awards.
The Scouts had a jamboree planning night ahead of KIJ25.
Last week at LRD:
The Beavers were working on their book reader badge.
The Cubs were on a walk across Burnham Beeches.
The Scouts went to Paccar campsite, doing laser tag and zip lines.
At our AGM last night, we said thank you and goodbye to our long standing chairman Derek, who had been in the role for over 10 years. Our thanks also to Phil who has agreed to take on the role.
Also last night our GLV and Scout Leader Adrian received his 40 year service award!

The Beavers were out at Littleworth Common building dens.
The Cubs were at Paccar for an exciting evening of archery and crate stacking.
The Scouts were playing wide games.

Last week at LRD:
No meeting for the Beavers after their summer camp, but the Cubs were playing some international themed games.
The Scouts were using their pioneering skills to make Flintstone cars to ride down the hill behind the hut.
Also this weekend, our Beavers were on their Adventure Summer Camp at Paccar campsite.
They took part in activities including climbing, a treasure hunt (for well earned ice lollies), zip wires, laser tag & crate stacking. They also got a lesson in fire lighting and made s'mores.
This weekend our Scouts were on camp at Dorney Wood, working on their survival skills badge.
This included sleeping under the stars, cooking over open fires without tools, prepping food, knife/axe/saw work, first aid training and camp hygiene.
There was also time to cool off!
It's been a busy week, and we have loads to share.
First up, our weekly meetings saw both Beavers and Cubs practicing their knots and making catapults.
The latest intakes of Beavers were also gifted with a camp blanket for their Scouting journey.

Last week at LRD:
The Beavers got an important lesson in water safety at Datchet Lake, learning about responding to cold water shock and how to float.
The Cubs were learning about bee keeping.
The Scouts were on the water at Taplow Lake for a second session of kayaking.
Happy 60th birthday to our wonderful Scout hut, which was officially opened on 12th June 1965 after 12 years of fundraising by the original 1st Lent Rise Scout Group.
We are currently trying to obtain quotes to refurbish the toilets. If you can help please get in touch.

The Beavers were doing mini pioneering, making prototype catapults ahead of making something bigger, and also launched water bottle rockets.
The Cubs visited Maidenhead Fire Station.
The Scouts were on the water kayaking at Taplow Lake.

The Beavers started on their gardening badge, planting sunflowers & making a bug hotel for our garden.
The Cubs had a taster session with Phoenix RFC.
The Scouts were preparing for & running their plate smashing fundraising stall at the Burnham Donkey Derby.
