Andrew Walker of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has edited a fine book of essays by Protestant scholars engaging my work, entitled *Social Conservatism for the Common Good*. Here's an interview Dr. Walker did with me prior to the book's publication:

Build something: a business, an intellectual project, a family, a coalition, an institution ; whatever, just build something. Surviving by via negativa that traffics in cynicism and constant throat-clearing is the way to be a parasite.
I won’t even begin to speak on my admiration for Robert George and his work. I only wish I could be there for the lecture and conversation in Louisville this Thursday. But I’ll settle with sitting by the fire and cracking open this new book with a good cup of coffee.
@andrewtwalker is one of the most gifted, rigorous, and faithful Christian scholars in our time. He has assembled what promises to be a masterpiece with this book on a Protestant engagement with Robert P. George.
Every new moral principle we adopt will limit and damage the old moral principles we used to live by.
This is inevitable. Moral principles compete to define what we ought to do.
It was a joy to preach to my local church family (@ReedemerRMT) yesterday. I love them. @daytonhartman and @erikwharris, my good friends, are doing a phenomenal job shepherding this congregation. It's beautiful to behold.
Loving one's neighbor requires just conditions that further your neighbor's flourishing.
Just conditions are brought about, in part, by political communities ordering affairs rightly.
Therefore, engaging politically is one way (and not the only way) to love one's neighbor.
@ThabitiAnyabwil I asked you about planting churches inner-city context. You gave me your card and told me to hit you up. I never did. I’d love to rekindle this conversation but specifically in the direction of this thread you’ve posted. https://t.co/ryz12V4nNN
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound,
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be.
I go and lie down where the wood drake rests
in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of the wild things
Announcing a new project: @jbwester, @caseybhough, and I have a new @HenrySBTS podcast called "The Free Church, Free State Podcast: Baptist Theology for the Common Good." In our first episode, we look at the BF&M2K's article on religious liberty.

@jbwester is one of my closest friends. He’s a humble, competent and kind leader. He’s also a man of conviction and courage. As @EWErickson said, he “isn't afraid to give tough advice gently delivered.” That’s spot on. Congratulations, brother.
Some personal news: After four years in Nashville with the @ERLC, my family and I will be moving to Mobile where I’ll join the staff of Redemption Church as associate pastor. My primary focus will be supporting @EdLitton in his role as SBC President.
@JawnO we haven’t met. I hope one day we do. This is a provocative piece. But, it’s a necessary discussion. Working in a community development organization in a similar context; I’ve come to a similar conclusion(s) over the past year. Good article. Great work. Praying for you.
“Black & brown communities need the freedom to plant churches responsive to their own contexts & needs, free from the white gaze…Black Christian history teaches us it’s possible to work on separate fronts while supporting one another in the same war.” https://t.co/9hW9Z23ngX
You can tell Kanye’s exposure to Biblical exposition is outside of the black preaching experience. Good meat makes it’s own sauce. That’s what I was taught. See that book #SayIt#BlackPreaching@MattSmethurst
I'm often asked how people (especially Christians) could justify slavery. While I disagree with the practice, I outline their arguments the best I can. This thread raises the more important question about the cost of standing up for something that you're convinced is right.👇🏾
The central and salient consideration of American racial politics shouldn’t center around pride in how far we’ve come, but in humble realization of how much farther we have to go.
A story of personal change: https://t.co/BaPWDkwIVM
What does Christ-centered unity look like? @daytonhartman and I gathered a fantastic crew of authors to examine America's turbulent racial past, construct a unifying public theology, and offer practical tips for the journey. I hope it's a blessing to you.
I’m a very young pastor—early in my ministry. This contribution is not novel. For more in-depth guidance follow @w_strickland@ThabitiAnyabwil @bcloritts @da_horton@CharlieDates. They have been in the fray for racial conciliation/reconciliation for a long time. I admire them.
