Today would have been my father-in-law's 72nd birthday. Sadly, we lost him 12 days ago. My mother-in-law always says that cardinals are family members coming to visit us. So when I saw this drawing by @jessicablank I smiled and said, "Happy Birthday, John" ♥

I don't have a set fee for #authorvisits. I've done school visits and #bookreadings for anywhere from $0-$250. But no matter whether or not I receive payment, I always ask! Asking for payment normalizes that schools and other venues should plan to pay #authors for our time 👊🏽
