Asked again what is likely wrong with it: "All we know is that it’s been caused by an internal failure within the engine but we don’t strip the engines any further to determine the cause unfortunately."

2017 Disco 48k. LR say requires new engine - est cost £18-£20k. Asked why: LR answer: We carried out investigation into rattle from engine. We found no relevant fault codes, we carried out electronic compression tests and found one cylinder at 71% this is below specification.

I have tried to resolve this amicably, reasonably and professionally with the Land Rover Executive Office, and sadly they perceive this as LR doing me a favour by offering a contribution. No-one should accept this.

These failures are due to manufacturer faults that are being hidden from consumers. These issues can only conceivably have been present and apparent for sometime to LR, including at the point of used sales and warranty expiry.
