A group of academics, staff and students who care desperately about climate breakdown. We call upon our institution, the LSE, to declare a climate emergency.
Welcome back to term! Please consider coming to our first town hall of the year - whoever you are on campus, we need your creativity and experience to help influence the consultation.
Bring your friends next Thursday and come early! :)
“I’m done with fossil fuels. They’re done,” @MadMoneyOnCNBC's @JimCramer says after oil giants Exxon Mobil and Chevron reported Q4 earnings this morning. “We’re in the death knell phase.” https://t.co/rdcmoeRGMB
The @lsesu sabbatical officers have stated they “are in full support of the Climate Emergency motion passed in December”, and “will work with the campaign to ensure each point of the motion is implemented.” ✊

Without our work so far, this consultation would not have been as prominent or serious as it is now. But it must be democratised and radical for serious change to happen as a result. So we need as many of you there as possible!

Prof Randall Abate says humans aren't good at long-term planning for slow-onset problems [climate change] - we're good at responding to emergencies. Declaration of climate emergency is therefore a positive framing #LSEClimateLitigation
I very much hope that #LSE makes its way into the list next year. Teaching and research are only a part of universities' social role. No real excuse at this point to avoid bold action. https://t.co/TvAW4g3zCV

On Friday we hosted our first official climate strike action with some amazing speakers from the LSE community. We called upon the LSE to declare a climate emergency and as a group illustrated why our demands, especially global climate justice. Some pictures:
A simply put and rousing analogy from @davidgraeber@LSEAnthropology on climate inaction. We agree: we need to understand on an academic front why the many aren’t acting, and set examples by doing so.
