With many natural resources dwindling at an alarming rate across the world, the need for a more sustainable approach to resource management has never been greater, especially in a fast-growing city like #OurLagos. As our population expands and consumption increases, we must shift away from the traditional “take, make, dispose model and embrace the circular economy. This approach prioritizes reuse, recycling, and the regeneration of materials, ensuring that resources remain in use for as long as possible. By doing so, we can significantly reduce waste, conserve raw materials, and ease the pressure on our environment.
Of course, it has its benefits - a thriving circular economy in Lagos means cleaner streets, less pollution, and a more efficient system where waste is transformed into valuable resources. It also creates new economic opportunities, drives innovation, and fosters a culture of sustainability that benefits both present and future generations. So, if we truly want to build a resilient, resource-efficient Lagos, we must actively promote and adopt circular practices in our industries, businesses, and daily lives. The time to act is now - our city and our future depend on it.

As a nation, we are blessed with abundant natural resources, which gives us a unique opportunity to drive a major transition toward a green economy. And it is only by embracing key pillars such as renewable energy, green technology, and sustainable practices, that we can reduce pollution, minimize waste, and make better use of our precious resources. This shift is not just about environmental responsibility - it is about securing a healthier, more resilient future for generations to come.
At the basic level, what a thriving green economy means for us is cleaner air, healthier communities, and cities designed for long-term sustainability. And every step we take toward this vision brings us closer to building a society where progress and environmental consciousness go hand in hand. The journey starts with collective action, innovative thinking, and a commitment to making sustainability a way of life.

Why does Lagos need a Carbon Registry?
We have a nationally determined resolution to reduce air pollution or emissions by 20% over the next four years; we will not achieve that goal without measures like this. The carbon registry helps us document how much carbon we generate.
