It is with profound sadness that the Fort Worth Police Department announces the passing of K9 Ajax. 

The German short-haired pointer was a single-purpose narcotic service dog born in Hungary. His faithful service to the City of Fort Worth and the greater DFW area will never be forgotten. 

Ajax entered service to our department in 2017. His seven honorable years in the K9 Interdiction Unit led him to successful narcotics seizures and his positive impact on the community ensured the safety of countless lives. 

After the 2021 promotion of his handler, Ofc. Abrams, Ajax was reassigned to his current handler, Ofc. Lopez, to continue his mission of interdiction. Ajax's relentless courage and determination translated to his personal life as well, in which he overcame cancer and eventually returned to the service job he loved. 

He is survived by his two incredible handlers and will remain forever in our hearts as a shining example of the perseverance we've come to expect from our Fort Worth K9 family. 

Thank you, K9 Ajax, for your service and sacrifice. Rest in peace. We’ll take it from here. #NeverForget #K9Unit #FWPD
