India is taking a transformative leap in vocational education with a ₹60,000 crore scheme to upgrade 1,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country.

These institutes will evolve into government-owned, industry-managed aspirational skill centres to skill 20 lakh youth over the next five years.

In addition, five National Centres of Excellence for Skilling will be set up in Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kanpur, and Ludhiana, marking a major milestone in the nation’s skill development journey.
