Update: The LSU campus will be closed but classes will be held remotely on Wednesday, Sept. 11, and Thursday, Sept. 12. Students should communicate directly with their professors with any questions about online classes.
All events and activities on campus will be cancelled beginning today at 4:30 p.m. through Thursday.
The @LSULawCenter, the @LSUVetMed and the @LSUOnline program will communicate separately with their students and staff about their operations.
The closure includes the University Laboratory School and the LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool.
LSU residence halls and on-campus apartments will remain open and food will be available to on-campus residents. Please check @LSUDining’s website and social media accounts for any adjusted hours of dining operations or plans for meal delivery during the storm. Students who live on campus should expect to shelter in place during the storm by remaining indoors and should stay in close contact with @LSUResLife staff for any instructions. Students living in fraternity or sorority houses should closely monitor all communications from the Greek Life staff for any instructions.
Students living in off-campus housing should prepare their homes, gather emergency supplies, and consider safer shelter options if needed.

Essential employees should check with their supervisors regarding their schedules during the campus closure. Non-essential employees should not report to campus during the closure.

The group immediately left the area, and no further contact was made with the occupants of the vehicle. The LSU Police Department is investigating the incident.
Timely Warning: An incident involving a brandished firearm took place on August 28, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Tower Drive near David Boyd Hall. No one was injured in the incident and the incident was not reported to LSU Police until 8:39 p.m.
In the incident, a group of subjects were walking on Tower Drive when the occupants of a vehicle drove near the group then yelled at them and brandished a firearm inside the vehicle.
Both drivers got back into their vehicles and drove toward downtown, and once off of LSU’s campus, one driver reported hearing gunshots from the other vehicle. LSU Police and Baton Rouge Police are investigating the incident. (3/3)
The incident was not reported to LSU Police until the following day, Aug. 8.
In the incident, two drivers got out of their vehicles at the intersection to confront each other, and one struck the other across the face with a firearm. (2/3)

A road rage incident involving a firearm took place Aug. 7, 2024 at approximately 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of Nicholson Drive and North Stadium Road. No LSU students or employees were involved and no one was injured. (1/3)
LSU interim police chief Marshall Walters has been appointed Chief of Police for LSU, following a national search.
Walters has served more than 21 years with @LSUPolice and has worked his way up through various leadership roles at LSUPD.
