@anenglishteachr I started teaching in 1991 4th and then 5th grade. I gave out candy at first but got tired of hearing that I wasn't giving out "good candy". Meanwhile I was making about $20/year with an ancient car and student loans. One day I snapped and never bought candy for kids again.

@atensnut Check out the Merlin app. It helps you identify birds but the best feature is where you have it listen for birds and it will give you a list of all the birds it heads. You can even keep a list of birds you've seen.

It's a young adult romance set in a small Louisiana fishing town who's residents get displaced by a hurricane. Well told story with Louisiana flair. Relatable to anyone who has ever had to evacuate from a natural disaster.
