Statement from Rachel Goldberg-Polin and Jon Polin, whose son Hersh was executed in Gaza:

"We welcome today’s announcement of a hostage and ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, brokered by the United States, Egypt and Qatar.

This is an opportunity to bring home 98 cherished hostages who have been held in captivity for far too long - the living to begin a challenging physical and mental rehabilitation process and the deceased for respectful and proper burial.

All of Israel needs to begin a national healing process that can only truly start when all the hostages have been brought home.

We view this agreement as only the beginning of the end, not the end itself. It is imperative that this process is completed and all 98 hostages are returned to their families.

It is also time for the innocent civilians of Gaza to be relieved of the suffering they have endured since the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7th, 2023. They also need to begin the recovery process.

Our beloved son Hersh and so many other innocent civilians should have been saved long ago by a deal like this one, especially since the framework for today’s deal has been in place since May 2024.

We will struggle with that failure for the rest of our lives. But today we celebrate the impending reunifications of the 98 remaining hostages with their loved ones with whom we have been tirelessly advocating and so many of whom have become like family to us during this 467 day struggle."

A Palestinian woman in the West Bank was hospitalized today after a group of settlers hurled stones at her home.

Let me be clear: I have zero tolerance for violence against Jews, Arabs, Israelis, or Palestinians.

Settler violence has become a regular occurrence in the West Bank, and we must not tolerate or turn a blind eye to their extremism if we want to create true, lasting peace.

Arvin Nathaniel Ghahremani, 20, z”l, a Jewish Iranian man, was hanged to death today by the Islamic Republic in Iran.

Arvin was convicted for murder by the regime after defending himself from a stabbing attack. He tried to bring his attacker/victim to the hospital to save him. Human rights watchdogs say the case had many flaws.

They reasoned the execution, now, had more to do with the Islamic Republic’s attacks on Israel and its deeply engrained antisemitism.

The regime pressured the victim’s family not to accept “blood money” from Arvin’s family in return for his freedom, reportedly because he was a Jew.

The laws of the Islamic Republic in Iran state that no punishment is given when a Muslim kills a non-Muslim, but when a non-Muslim kills a Muslim they can face the death penalty.

Arvin faced a terror regime that sees the justice system as just another way to weaponize the death of innocents.

Everyone needs to wake up to the evil of the Islamic Republic in Iran and its proxies, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.

May Arvin’s memory be a blessing.

This Yom Kippur, we seek forgiveness; but we are not required to forgive.

Don’t forgive Hamas, who murdered, raped, and kidnapped our people and held them in captivity for a year.

Don’t forgive Hezbollah, who pushed 60,000 Israelis out of their homes and shot rockets at civilians every day.

Don’t forgive the media, who reported Hamas’s lies uncritically.

Don’t forgive the governments of Israel, the United States, Qatar, and Egypt, who have failed to deliver a deal to release the hostages.

Don’t forgive the UN, who collaborated with terrorists and gave cover for their crimes.

Don’t forgive the masses that took to the streets, vandalized Jewish businesses, protested outside of hospitals, and held signs calling for more Jewish blood to be spilled.

Don’t forgive the even greater masses who stayed quiet, while Jews were dehumanized and brutalized in Israel and around the world.

We don’t forgive, but we do say sorry, to the victims and the hostages. And not just that. We promise to do more.
