Try resuscitating a 500g human!
Wider point here is that night shifts are really bad for your health. Especially when on increasingly intense and exhausting out of hours shifts.
What can we do to mitigate the impact? Do current workschedules work?
85% of resident (formerly junior) doctors underpaid £100s-£1000s per year.
Great to present on widespread underpayment of almost all @BMA_JuniorDocs, and what we are doing at @RBNHSFT to correct it.
If you haven't checked your salary, please do!
Really pleased to see the work by @EmmaMDyer, @dr_emmacoombe, and @rcpch_trainees recognised in @SteveTurnerABDN’s blog this week.
@NHSEngland has made promises on improving the working lives of doctors, and there is so much more that can still be done.
@RCPCHtweets@LondonPaeds Well deserved! Katie does amazing work in sharing excellence and driving up standards and for London Paeds trainees. The LSP Survey is an extremely powerful tool!
Well done!! 👍💯
🏆We're delighted to announce Dr Katheryn Ferin is the winner of this year's Michael Blacow Memorial Prize for the best abstract presented at RCPCH Conference.

@Jack_Haywood92 You should be paid for the shifts that you work, we suggest:
1. Get your personalised workschedule and generic full-time workschedule (contractural requirements)
2. Get your payslips
3. Calculate your pay using our pay guide and you'll know exactly what you should be getting
Hearing about maternity pay and leave! And also all those important parts of LTFT working!

@KateBurkeNHS On the money again 👏👏
What about staff working overnight? Options very restricted and nobody really wants a reheated pasty from a vending machine. No offence Kernow.
During COVID we had access to much more hot food overnight. Are we less deserving of this now?
@RCPCHtweets Look no further than our Improving working lives guidance. Currently rolling out across London Paediatrics.
If @NHSEngland or @RCPCHtweets want any locally engaged trainees to help them see what is needed on the ground. You've found them @LondonPaeds
@KateBurkeNHS 👏👏 Leadership that shows it cares about staff through doing actual stuff that benefits them.
Bravo!
@NHSEngland this is how you #improveworkinglives
@KateBurkeNHS have you seen our Improving working lives guidance?

@NHSEngland@NHSEngland hopefully you mean HR as well as 'payroll' accuracy. As a lot of errors occur upstream (HR), especially for LTFT pay, which in London (at least) is usually wrong. Soul destroying to have to fight your corner to get paid properly as well as cope with everything else..
@dr_emmacoombe@NHSEngland Interesting use of the word 'Payroll'. Hopefully they don't just mean the bit AFTER HR do your workschedule and pay calculations and send to SBS. Lots of errors originate upstream...
Also looking forward to hearing what additional resource will be allocated to deliver these 3
