@SciGlow @OutbackEco @ANUmedia@LTecology There are standing "chimney" trees in the paddocks here from Ash Wednesday fires. If left then give stock rubbing posts & bats shelter to over winter.
Showed kids a colony tree & we counted 80 microbats in just one.
The trunks might look untidy but 1 bat eats a lot of mozzies.
Scientists begin to measure the heavy toll of Australia's #bushfires on wildlife. Ecologist David Lindenmayer of @LTecology joins RN Breakfast.

I’m feeling more “quollified” now I have a paper published on quolls :) Thanks to all who've supported this project (& paper). Our paper looks at the lessons we learnt from the 1st reintroduction to the wild on mainland Australia: https://t.co/mkjh7SMuwz
It’s been a difficult few weeks. We lost Dr Dave Blair - a colleague and friend. Dave’s contribution to forest science and his community was recognised in the Australian senate on Tuesday night. You can watch below.

This week we’re planting threatened Yass Daisies in trial plots under a range of grazing regimes. They’ll join 3 other species planted previously. We’ll monitor their progress to learn more about how they respond to grazing and how to reestablish forb communities on farms.
Save the date. Our upcoming series of Field Days will focus on shelterbelts and farm dams. See how other landowners are improving the productivity and resilience of their farms. To be notified, join our mailing list at: https://t.co/kADxLpg9HD…
