@Phil89523004 I think because Marseille want to get rid of Paixão and Leeds were linked to him last season it's an easy link to make for journalists so it's probably not a real link but if it was it would be an insane signing
Not trying to get carried away but just imagine! 🤩 #LUFC
⚫️ Harry Wilson - £0 🏴
⚫️ Tarik Muharemović - £34m 🇧🇦
⚫️ James Trafford - £40m 🏴
⚫️ Julian Brandt - £0 🇩🇪
⚫️ Shea Charles - £25m 🇮🇪
⚫️ Igor Paixão - £30m 🇧🇷
Rory Wilson’s potential loan move to HamKam currently looking unlikely after the clubs failed to agree terms.
Other interest from Scandinavia, Europe and the EFL.🟣
Julian Brandt to #LUFC latest:
• The Premier League is "by far the most likely destination", with a number of Italian clubs (including Juve and Roma) dropping out of the race to sign the German. [Gianluca Di Marzio]
• Leeds have offered the attacking midfielder a contract until 2029 and are now waiting on a final decision from the player. [Nicolo Schira]
• Father and agent Jurgen Brandt was at Thorp Arch (Leeds training ground), for talks last week. [Yorkshire Evening Post]
• Brandt has been keeping fit in the summer months, training with friend and former teammate Kai Havertz yesterday. [Bayer Leverkusen]
Along with Harry Wilson, Julian Brandt would complete a transformation in creative attacking midfield options for Leeds United.
This one looks closer now and would be a huge coup for the Yorkshire club.
Brandt has been one of the exceptional chance creators in the Bundesliga - the 30-year-old has finished in the top 10 for big chances created by attacking midfielders in each of the last 5 seasons.
He can play anywhere in midfield, or the forward line, but has spent most of his career in the number 10 role (238 appearances, 103 goal involvements), and the left wing (147 appearances, 93 goal involvements).
Leeds and Daniel Farke may consider switching back to a 4-2-3-1 if they do bring Brandt in.
Farke wants to play that formation anyway, he wants to impose his brand of football. And it is the best way to fit all of Wilson, Brandt, Okafor and Calvert-Lewin into the same 11.
Brand't best and most creative seasons came under Edin Terzić in a 4-2-3-1.
In the 2023-24 season Dortmund went all the way to the Champions League final, while in the Bundesliga Brandt finished top among attacking midfielders for big chances created with 18, getting 11 assists in a stellar campaign.
Last season, similar to Leeds under Farke, new Dortmund boss Niko Kovač had to switch to a 3-4-2-1, which brought the wing backs into play more. With creativity shared and width favoured, Brandt's output went down a bit.
But if you get the best out of Brandt, then Brandt is the sort of player that could get the absolute best out of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
DCL is lethal in the box and can be there to finish the huge numbers of big chances Brandt is capable of creating.
With Stach, Wilson, Okafor, the wing backs and now potentially Brandt - Leeds would have constant sources of supply to feed DCL - who will be licking his lips at a system and squad all geared to creating high-quality chances for him.
This would be an elite and very exciting signing for Leeds.
