So i just put some extra code to my tool and make it work on proposal that still going here what i found :
@arbitrum governance or @arbitrumdao_gov is wild rn ๐ถ๏ธ
council members want 90k ARB each as a bonus
why? startup phase was more work than they thought
supposed to be 4 hrs/week
ended up being 10 hrs/week
now they want paid for the extra hours
here's my breakdown ๐
Ton of work at workplace but i did some upgrade on tools, so it wont make any duplicate for the dao proposal i already hace. Sharing with you guys later
#buildwithpublice#Web3Community
we're basically replacing:
"foundation has control"
with:
"Security Council has control + foundation has vague safety controls"
how is that decentralization? lol
also making it a VETO vote is confusing on purpose imo
vote carefully on this one fr

@OptimismGov and @Optimism trying to move governance onchain and it's kinda messy ๐
ps: proposal end Nov 12 2025
the proposal has good intentions but raises more questions than answers
thread on why i'm skeptical ๐งต
what they want:
- move governance onchain (good!)
- give admin powers to Security Council (???)
- Foundation keeps "safety controls" (???)
what they DON'T tell you:
- who's on Security Council
- what these safety controls are
- how to reverse if it breaks
- emergency procedures
sus.

tbh i'm split on this
yeah startup work always takes longer than expected (been there)
but 90k ARB with basically no metrics showing what they did? idk man
also they're literally voting on their own raise which is kinda funny
classic dao problem: fair pay vs not opening floodgates for everyone wanting bonuses
what would you vote?

here's my breakdown ๐
broke down the voting options:
vote FOR if:
- you think people should get paid for extra work
- they actually delivered value
- it's from existing budget anyway
- want to keep good council members
vote AGAINST if:
- they knew what they signed up for
- 90k feels like way too much
- sets bad precedent for future bonuses
- no real proof of what they accomplished
abstain if you're still figuring it out lol
NEW PART FROM THE TOOLS LOL ๐ ๐
what they're asking for:
90,000 ARB per council member (one time payment)
it's from their existing budget tho, not new dao money
they claim:
- did way more work than planned
- had to set up everything from scratch
- hiring, compliance, all that boring startup stuff
question is: does that justify 90k ARB? ๐ค
so arbitrum voted on paying council members more ๐ธ
my tool's take:
current: $30k/year
proposed: $50k/year + 60k ARB tokens
their logic: "industry benchmarks"
my logic: that's a 67% raise wtf
pros:
โ attracts better talent
โ they oversee 200M ARB (high stakes)
cons:
โ sets precedent for everyone wanting raises
โ no performance metrics shown
โ might price out community members
vote already closed but curious - would you have voted yes?

## ๐ฏ THE BOTTOM LINE
Delegates should weigh whether professionalizing DAO governance through competitive compensation outweighs risks of cost inflation and community exclusion. The 67% increase may be justified by industry standards, but the precedent it sets for DAO-wide compensation expectations could have far-reaching budget implications that aren't addressed in this proposal.

Increase AGV Council compensation by 67% plus ARB bonuses to match industry benchmarks.
**KEY NUMBERS**:
- Council members: $30k โ $50k (+$20k)
- IC member: $80k โ $100k (+$20k)
- New: 60,000 ARB bonus per member (~$50k at current prices)
- Oversees: 200M ARB deployment program
- Timeline: Next Council term only, 6-month vesting
๐ก KEY INSIGHTS
- **This is really about talent competition**: The proposal reflects DAO governance maturing into professional roles that compete with traditional finance positions, but raises questions about whether DAOs should mirror corporate compensation structures
- **Power dynamics are shifting**: Higher compensation requirements may fundamentally change who can afford to participate in DAO governance, potentially excluding passionate community members in favor of professional operators
- **Benchmark gaming risk**: The selected comparisons conveniently support the desired increase, but alternative benchmarks (like other DAO roles or crypto-native positions) might tell a different story
- **Treasury allocation philosophy**: This represents a key decision point about whether DAO funds should prioritize governance professionalization versus direct ecosystem development and user acquisition
my tool is getting good at finding both sides ngl
building this is teaching me more about daos than any course could
