@MatthewMKE98 When it comes to football (soccer), the US will never have a chance at the World Cup for as long as it remains a niche sport over there without a nationwide passion.
There are too many nations for whom football means more. For the Europeans and South Americans, it’s everything.
@secondtierpod Ross Barkley on a free in 23/24 has got to be up there. Out of nowhere and was pure magic for us that season. Didn’t get the plaudits he deserved.
@talkSPORT You have to remember Bellingham has an ego, which can be a good thing but needs careful management. Leaving him out for the toughest group game isn’t the way to play to it.
@SkySportsNews Without question. Rogers has done well but Bellingham is a different level of player. Croatia is a very tricky opener and it’s essential we start well.
He also has an ego, which can be good but needs to be managed carefully. Leaving him out of the opener sends the wrong message
@SSE_LTFC Luton has seen top flight football come, go, come again, and major trophies won, in the time since England last won anything. And we will rise again.
A World Cup win is possibly once in a lifetime.
Country > club still for me for that reason alone
The club are getting so much more right so far this summer, and doing it early. Walsh and Clark alone won’t win us promotion but it’s a great foundation to build from.
@LutonTown I must admit there were times early last season when I never wanted to see Walsh in the shirt again.
But since Wilshere has started to get his ideas across he’s become integral.
Fair play to him, and now feels huge to get him tied down.
@JustPayTheMoney No doubt it will be challenging for his mental health but part of how you cope with that involves taking full accountability for your actions, which he still isn’t doing by trying to suggest the fact they didn’t gain an advantage in any way mitigates it.
Own it. No ifs or buts.
@DomShawEcho The second point is the one. You must believe you’re going to gain an advantage to keep doing it. Saying otherwise is like saying I robbed multiple banks but as I didn’t get away with the money on any occasion I shouldn’t be punished.
@tobyasky It’s your responsibility as a manager to know the rules of the competition you’re competing in. Since when has ‘I didn’t know the law’ been considered an acceptable defence in any case?
@IamBalhamMatt@secondtierpod Completely untrue. Your algorithm is likely targeting you with views similar to your own. What message would it have sent to other clubs had Southampton been promoted after being found to have attempted to cheat? The punishment was harsh, but not unjust. It was the only outcome.
@secondtierpod At what point did the competition lose credibility? Was it when you were removed from the playoffs or when you contrived to cheat your way into and through them? 🤔
“to further develop a live, data-informed approach to talent identification aligned with both the club’s immediate playing philosophy and the continuously evolving squad strategy”
The key part of this announcement - we’re looking to build a more modern recruitment model.
