Lot of these takes that seek to celebrate the depiction of a soft Rama who shuns violence and is soft and borderline timid come from this old trope below...

God suffered in silence on behalf of his people..
God pardons but doesn't confront or attack to kill..
God is non-violent and sacrifice is the ideal he espoused..

I can just say that is a specific imagination of a particular kind of god.. I need not explain which faith it is from..

Everyone is not obligated to pay obeisance to that kind of imagery..

It is a particular kind of imagination juxtaposed on another set of people who carry multiple different imageries of their gods and goddesses..

Our gods and goddesses may punish those who are on the other side of Dharma quite severely. They may go to wars and kill them.

Yes our gods carry weapons. And it is not as a fancy dress competition costume. Those weapons are really put to use when the opponent and the situation demands. Both gods and goddesses indulge in this kind of 'violence' . No patriarchy there. Equal treatment to villains across genders. Villains can be women too. Oppressed gender card won't work for Rakshasis.

The irony is lot more violence has been unleashed in the past few centuries in the name of peace and love on various indigenous peoples as compared to the violence unleashed by this so called violent religion where gods carry weapons and kill their opponents.

A slight disagreement with Sai ji, movie aim wasn't subversion rather copying the Hollywood superhero industrial complex where anti-hero is provided with sympathetic backstory & elevation. Makers were obsessed with selling it to West hence modelled Ravan after them.

Things I liked about Ramayana:
1. Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva are show are show as cosmic beings made of stars & nebulae, not humanoids.
2. Sita knew how to fight.
