Terrible situation to be Very honest.
Unfair to parents/guardians as you've noted, I can understand what the students affected will be feeling and May God give them the strength to navigate this and WIN !
Quota is 150, but you admitted 300+ in 100L, then 8 years later, you are saying sorry we can only graduate 150. That’s not policy. That’s playing with people’s lives.
8 years of school fees, sacrifice, sleepless nights, parents aging, dreams on hold… only to be told “wait, there’s a backlog”.
The parents that have been saying “my son/daughter is almost a Doctor” for years now don’t even know what to say again. 🥲
It’s not just certificates.
Housemanship delayed, residency delayed, income delayed, marriage plans delayed and life delayed.
This kind of waiting breaks people quietly. The pressure plus the uncertainty is a lot.
I really hope there's something that can be done. This is not a situation anyone should be.

Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) remains the gold standard for assessing long-term glycemic control, reflecting the average plasma glucose over the preceding 8–12 weeks. The 2025 Standards of Care released by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) continue to emphasize individualized HbA1c targets while reinforcing its diagnostic and prognostic importance.
Diagnostic Criteria
Diabetes mellitus can be diagnosed using any of the following (preferably confirmed on repeat testing in asymptomatic individuals):
HbA1c ≥ 6.5% (48 mmol/mol)
Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) ≥ 126 mg/dL
2-hour Plasma Glucose ≥ 200 mg/dL during OGTT
Random Plasma Glucose ≥ 200 mg/dL with classic symptoms
HbA1c testing should be performed in NGSP-certified laboratories standardized to the DCCT assay.
Glycemic Targets (2025 Recommendations)
1. Non-pregnant Adults:
For most adults with type 2 diabetes, the recommended HbA1c target remains <7.0% (53 mmol/mol) to reduce microvascular and macrovascular complications.
2. Children & Adolescents:
A more stringent goal of <6.5% may be appropriate if achievable without significant hypoglycemia. Early tight control reduces long-term vascular risk.
3. Older Adults:
Targets should be individualized:
Healthy older adults: <7.0–7.5%
Complex/intermediate health: <8.0%
Very complex/poor health: Avoid reliance solely on HbA1c; focus on preventing hypoglycemia and symptomatic hyperglycemia.
Individualization is Key
The ADA strongly advocates tailoring HbA1c goals based on:
Duration of diabetes
Risk of hypoglycemia
Life expectancy
Comorbidities (cardiovascular disease, CKD)
Patient preference and treatment burden
Beyond HbA1c
Modern diabetes care increasingly integrates Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) metrics such as Time in Range (TIR) alongside HbA1c. HbA1c alone may be misleading in conditions like anemia, CKD, hemoglobinopathies, or recent transfusion. Therefore, clinical judgment remains paramount.
Clinical Significance
The 2025 updates reaffirm that while HbA1c remains central, a “one-number-fits-all” strategy is outdated. Safer targets for frail elderly patients and tighter control for younger individuals reflect a shift toward precision medicine in diabetology.

My mum made a huge deal of these things so my dad had to attend some. At one end of year party in my secondary school, the MC was doing such a terrible job that my dad took the mic from him and mc’ed the rest of the event. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord, Baba Benita ❤️
Devastated for the loss of Diogo and Andre.
Absolutely loved sharing a dressing room with him, having so many laughs together, constantly winding each other up with our stubborn nature and truly marvelling at the stuff he did on the football pitch✨. All my thoughts, love and support goes to his family, friends and the Liverpool family ❤️
Rest In Peace Jots
Love ya mate.
