Don’t know who needs to hear this but paying actors a living wage to work on Broadway was never the problem. Let’s course correct but that’s not the course to take.
The medium of musical theater will not be able to truly evolve until we start supporting genius reinventions like this rather than acceptable but mediocre revivals. RIP Cats the Jellicle Ball, we did not deserve you
Ngl Broadway is getting real depressing with all these closures. I get it’s the business and all that jazz but it’s also just real upsetting to see people lose their jobs while shows close months early with only a few weeks (or five days in beaches’ case) of notice.
But like actually what’s the point of making daring and exciting and challenging art anymore? If this is how it turns out. It’s demoralizing to see what shows get uplifted and which shows get pushed aside.
