Over 100 people are dead—including dozens of children—and the governor is using a football analogy.
Texans are not that stupid. We aren’t dogs you distract by tossing a stick.
We believe in accountability. THAT is the language of leaders.

Greg Abbott is trying to defund our schools with a private school voucher scam.
Not on our watch.
Today I joined my colleagues to introduce the Fully Fund our Future Act which will invest in ALL students and give every teacher a $15,000 raise. #txlege
Couldn’t tweet the full 3 minutes 😄 I just wanna say I’m proud of all the parents and teachers who spoke up at yesterday’s school board meeting. #ElPaso#Texas#ElPasoTexas#EPTX#EPISD
Thank you @RYHTexas for inviting me to be a guest on the podcast. Y’all are doing fantastic work to engage and equip Texas teachers and parents with the much needed tools to advocate for students and public education!
Accountability, and the transparency it brings, is essential. Our newest podcast episode has dropped where we discuss the assessment and accountability system for our Texas public schools, why it isn't enough or even the right measure. #TxEd#TxLege#MeasureWhatMattersTx #STAARtest

Officers working for Gov. Greg Abbott’s border security initiative have been ordered to push small children and nursing babies back into the Rio Grande and not to give water to asylum seekers even in extreme heat, according to an email from a DPS trooper. https://t.co/6yg2aNt9E2
As teachers close out another school year where they prepared students for a STAAR redesign, coached students through active shooters drills, spent countless additional hours lesson planning and grading, and provided love and care to 20-150 students, districts have to say #txlege failed #txed. Districts are finding ways to provide 2-4% pay increases when we should be able to do more. Educators are feeling discouraged and defeated.
Public Ed didn’t even make the priority list for the first special session.
Texas Republicans are trying to replace school counselors with untrained, unsupervised religious chaplains.
I asked the bill author about the dangerous implications of this legislation. #txlege
Let me add, this is on top of a failure to make schools safer after 19 kids & 2 teachers were murdered a year ago. This is amid poor state leadership that cannot even get test scores released on time in accordance w/ state law. This is after 51k teachers left their jobs last yr.
