މި ޕާޓީގެ ކުރީގެ ރައީސް މުހައްމަދު ނަޝީދުއާއި ދަ ޑިމޮކްރެޓްސްގެ މެންބަރުން މި ޕާޓީއާ ގުޅުމަށް ނިންމާފައިވާތީ މަރުހަބާ ދަންނަވަމެވެ. އެމްޑީޕީ އަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް ޑިމޮކްރެސީ ތައާރަފުކުރުމާއެކު އިސްލާހަށް މަސައްކަތް ކުރުމުގެ ވިސްނުމުގައި އުފެދުނު ޕާޓީއަށް ވުމުގެ އިތުރުން ރާއްޖޭގެ އެންމެ ދޮށީ ޕާޓީއެވެ. ރާއްޖެ ހަމަމަގުން ނެއްޓޭ ކޮންމެ ފަހަރަކު ކަންކަން ހަމަ މަގަށް އެޅުވީ މި ޕާޓީގެ މެންބަރުންގެ ހިތްވަރުންނެވެ. އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ސަރުކާރުގެ އަމަލުތަކަށް އިންތިހާއަށް ފާރަވެރިވާންޖެހޭ މިފަދަ ވަގުތެއްގައި ރައީސް ނަޝީދުއާއި ދަ ޑިމޮކްރެޓްސްގެ މެންބަރުން މި ޕާޓީއާ ގުޅުމަކީ މި މަސައްކަތުގައި ލިބުނު އިތުރު ހިތްވަރެކެވެ.

Police have disrupted and threatened to stop the May Day rally, after assurances were given to organisers that the march could take place. Unions and workers must be allowed to exercise their constitutional right to protest. I call upon the Police to allow the peaceful rally to continue as previously agreed upon by all parties.

We strongly condemn the brutal and unjustified attack by the government on peaceful protesters tonight. This shameful display of force reveals the true colours of President Muizzu’s administration, an administration that clearly does not believe in democratic governance or the hardwon rights enshrined in our Constitution.

The obstruction of today’s peaceful workers’ rally and tonight’s despicable crackdown are blatant violations of the fundamental freedoms of expression, assembly, and protest. Such actions are not only unacceptable, they are dangerous signs of authoritarianism taking root.

We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all those unlawfully arrested. The government must respect the people's right to peaceful protest and create space for democratic expression without fear of violence or repression.

Freedom of expression cannot be silenced by brute force. President Muizzu shoudl know this by now. We stand firm with the youth.
