@signulll This graph is illustrative of what's happening everywhere where genAI tools are adopted. We get more and more (more than we can process) and close to 100% of this new output is worse than what we already had.
The net contribution to humanity so far is overwhelmingly negative.
@YGandelsman@CVPR My PhD supervisor Erkki Sutinen used to talk about "cleaning up dirt from the corners" as a metaphor for research that did not seek broaden our understanding.
@LostMemeArchive Other rumors like there being a Pokemon number #151 turned out to be true!
There for sure was deliberate mystification of Pokemon back in the early days.
@atelicinvest We fear that no one notices us or our work in this sea of slop in which we now swim. AI agents are the new judge of our ability.
Now this is depressing!
@ThePrimeagen You might have very specific use cases where the output is 100x. But not all the time and certainly not for non-standard artisan tasks. I am not sure if even 1.1x is possible for those.
@PokeDailyPost Pokemon Centers should have variety and personality within games. Good examples are the first season of the anime or Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness.
Another thing: what you get from writing things yourself isn't just the code. It's an improved understanding of what the code does. That mental model is what lets you come up with further improvements, or invent a different way of doing things. You can't come up with ways to improve a blackbox you don't understand.
For most projects this doesn't really matter, because the code is the only thing you need. But if you're doing something novel, if you're doing research, the code is not the most important part. Understanding what the code does is the most important part.
@Wardixo The reason the worker count was increased to begin with was that the early game had became extremely stale and boring due to nerfing all cheeses. If we bring back creative openings and genuine strategic alternatives to the early game it might get less boring?
@CallMeTasteless I hope that cheeses and more creative opening come back!!
Also a smaller worker count at the start should make the game more accessible to beginners.
@karrisaarinen Imo the 100x, 1000x productivity cases are still quite rare. All other bottlenecks have to be dealt with and then in addition you have to be able to push the code into production without reading it.
