Bell-Lab: Cardiac Disease Mechanisms

Cardiac research team studying the underlying mechanisms of heart disease at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia.

[ISHR Australasian Section @ISHR_AUS]

An insightful panel session featuring @LabBell @k8weeks @jameschong_doc @alta_schutte. The session unpacked the value of undertaking editorial & service roles in scientific journals and how EMCIs can leverage the skills acquired for future opportunities. #ishr_aus #csanz26

Johannes V. Janssens (@UniMelbMDHS) et al. found that mechanical loading reveals an intrinsic #cardiomyocyte stiffness contribution to diastolic dysfunction in murine cardiometabolic disease 🫀

Really pleased to share our latest research published in @JMCCPlus. A collaborative project between Melbourne (@LabBell, @DelbridgeLea) and Birmingham (@PavlovicDavor), assessing the acute influence of sex steroids on atrial electrophysiology.

Looking for some weekend reading? 📜

Check out the latest paper from Wells et al with contributions from the @LabBell @DelbridgeLea @PavlovicDavor and @k8weeks

Is the electrophysiological response to sex steroids in the atria sex specific ?

Thank you to @delbridgelea and @KimMellor_UAkl for our beautiful April cover image, of glycogen macromolecules captured by an enveloping autophagosome in the para-myofilament cell region.

Review by Janssens et al. @UniMelbMDHS characterizes the concept of cardiomyocyte stiffness and develops an interpretation of “stiffness” attributes at the cellular and molecular levels. https://t.co/mOxO818bpB
