New preprint from our lab! We uncover how a subset of mitophagy proteins BNIP3 + NIX are repressed and protected from turnover so that they can perform a surveillance role for mitochondrial dysfunction under basal conditions. Led by postdoc @Abhishek_Mito https://t.co/4XKkd4LsFi

@AJsmith231 Congrats! Really interesting work - great to see this out!

Thrilled to share our work "Recessive PPTC7 deficiency triggers excessive mitophagy to cause a severe inborn error of metabolism with hypomyelinating leukodystrophy" - a collaborative effort documenting the first cases of PPTC7 mutations in humans. 1/n

Really thrilled to share our work on mitochondrial presequence strength @JCellBiol. We establish quantitative parameters to better define "strong" and "weak" presequences in vitro and in vivo. This work was spearheaded by the ever talented Youmian Yan, a grad student in my lab.

@nieminm @JCellBiol Congrats to all!! So fantastic to see this out!
