Investigadores de Ikiam, junto con colaboradores internacionales, publicaron un estudio en Journal of Chromatography A enfocado en la caracterización avanzada de ácidos clorogénicos en Ilex guayusa.
El trabajo integró cromatografía HPLC–UV, LC–MS/MS, quimiometría y redes moleculares, lo que permitió identificar compuestos esenciales en Ilex guayusa, como el derivado de quinona del ácido neoclorogénico.
Esta investigación aporta conocimiento clave sobre nuevas moléculas relacionadas con los ácidos clorogénicos, ya que permite comprender mejor sus procesos de transformación química y ampliar el conocimiento del perfil molecular de la guayusa.
Además, el estudio evidenció que factores como la ubicación geográfica, la exposición solar y la edad de la planta influyen en la composición química de la guayusa amazónica.
Esta investigación aporta conocimiento clave para comprender el valor biológico, funcional y comercial de una especie emblemática de la Amazonía ecuatoriana.
