We engineered mRNA payload designed to overcome the limited tropism of LNP delivery, acheiving 114x higher tumor signal and >380x lower off-target signal. Tumor-selective anti-CTLA-4 and Pten expression led to 93% tumor growth inhibition.

In this study, we used our cardiomyocyte-selective modRNA platform to upregulate PKM2, driving cardiomyocyte proliferation and cardiac repair in both juvenile Yorkshire pigs and adult Sinclair minipigs. Two months post-MI, all treated pigs maintained normal cardiac function.
Our large-animal study is now out in Nature Communications! This was a huge team effort led by first authors Jiacheng Sun, Yalin Wu, and our recent Master's graduate Matthew Adjmi, and a fantastic collaboration with Jianyi Zhang and the UAB team.

Yesterday, we celebrated Lior as he was awarded with the Chan Soon-Shiong Professorship in Cardiovascular Research. We are proud to be your mentees @LiorZangi and we are excited to see all the achievements that are yet to come! Hope you're enjoying your Zangi lab-made crown 😉
Magda was selected to give a talk at the @mrnaconference conference this year in Berlin and even won the 1st place award in the poster competition! Congratulations @MagdalenaZakPhD, we love to see you shine! ✨
Drs. Karikó and Weissman's Nobel prize prompted Nature to ask "What's next for mRNA technology?". Read on to learn more about the bright future of mRNA therapeutics from leading mRNA experts like our very own Lior Zangi.

Dr. Magdalena Zak, formerly a postdoctoral trainee in the Zangi lab, has now been appointed as an Instructor. Congratulations on the promotion Magda! We're excited to see all the wonderful things you accomplish in your new role!
The celebrations continue:
Our first Zangi Lab PhD student, Gaya, finished her first milestone for her thesis. She proposed her project to her committee members and passed with flying colors!
Go Gaya!!
A decade ago, Lior's postdoc work set precedence for the use of mRNA-based therapeutics in the cardiovascular system. Read the latest article by @growbyginkgo to learn more about how that story unfolded and what lies ahead for mRNA technology.

Our young 'un, associate researcher Matthew Adjmi, was admitted into Mount Sinai's Biomedical Sciences Master's Program. Congratulations Matthew! We're so excited to see what's in store for you😊
Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our DEI office's inaugural "Highlighting Our Trainees Symposium".
Congratulations to our presenters from the HICCC and @TischCancer, and a special thanks to our keynote speaker Dr. Justin Xavier Moore (@Real_DRJXM).
And it’s a wrap! I am making a career transition from #academia to #industry. Although it seems like a just a job switch to many, I am leaving a piece of me behind. I gained so much knowledge over the last 4 years, made lifetime relationships and fell in love with my research 1
The Frontiers Award @FundacionBBVA goes to Karikó, @kkariko Langer and Weissman
@WeissmanLab for creating two technologies that together have propelled the advance of messenger RNA therapeutics
